All About Eyes: Eye Products and How to Use Them

Hello world, in this article I will be talking about eye makeup. I will tell you about different eye makeup products that you need if your life and easy ways to apply them. If you are reading this article it means you want to learn about makeup. Well never fret, when I am here. I being a professional makeup artist know about so many products, but I will keep it simple and affordable for beginners. And it has just 4 steps. My favorite makeup brands which are available in India are ingot, kryolan, Mac. Let’s get into the details and always remember to practice.

PRIMER

An eye primer or eye base is the most important product that you need. This product helps the shadows stay for a long time. If you are like me and have oily eye lids an eye primer is a must, this helps prevent formation of oil which in turn helps the shadows stay put for a longer period of time. This gives a matte effect too. There are 2 types of primers,

  • Transparent
  • Opaque

As you can gather from the name, the transparent one only helps the shadow stay put, the opaque one however creates a blank canvas and gives a matte effect. I personally love the opaque one. Inglot, kryolan and Mac are my favorite brands for this product. If however you do not wish to buy a primer you can apply a thin layer of concealer and set it with setting powder. It will work the same way.

EYE SHADOW

Eye shadows are obviously very important for any eye look. Choose a kind of palette that you feel comfortable in. You can buy a palette or even a bunch of different eye shadows. There are so many colors in the market today. Matte, glitter, shimmers. You can go in for neutral colors or even bright colors. Make sure that you have the following colors,

  • Light brown
  • Dark brown
  • Gold
  • Black

You can never go wrong with these colors and can create any kind of look. Here is the easiest way to get a good eye makeup look.

  • Apply light brown in your crease to warm it up.
  • Apply dark brown over it to give it a definition.
  • Apply any color on your eyelid. I usually go for gold.
  • Darken the outer V of the eye with black and brown.

EYE LINER

This step is important as it defines your eye makeup. There are so many kinds of eye liner styles:

  • Simple
  • Winged
  • Double wing
  • Inner wing

And so on. Go to YouTube and search for your favorite type of eyeliner style. I like the Inglot and kryolan gel eyeliners. There are a variety of eyeliners:

  • Gel
  • Cream
  • Liquid
  • Felt tip

Choose a liquid liner if you are a beginner, this will help you create a good base. You can jazz and funk up your makeup by putting different colored eyeliners. Mostly every brand sells eyeliners and each and every one of them has a variety of colors and style.

  • WATERLINE

This is the place near the tear duct, where you apply kohl or kajal. You can apply any color kohl depending on your look. Just let your creativity flow.

  • UNDER WATER LINE

To give definition to the kohl application, you can add color below your water line. This will give the appearance of bigger eyes and also will define the makeup.

MASCARA AND LASHES

This is the final step of your eye makeup. Curl your lashes with an eyelash curler. This will give a good base to your mascara. Put one layer of your favorite mascara on both the eyes and let it dry. If you want a flutterier look, go for one more layer of mascara application.

If you feel comfortable add lashes. Trust me this will enhance your entire look. Don’t expect it to the perfect application, the first time. This is a difficult step but practice and you will do it right.
