Childhood should be a time for learning, experimenting and having fun. The worries of the world shouldn’t affect you, and everything you see, hear, taste, and touch brings new wonders and possibilities.
Though there are rules that children have to follow, breaking those rules is just as much a part of growing up as making them. Bad behavior is excused by, “Oh, they’re just kids being kids.” Behavior that might land you in jail as an adult may be considered cute, or explained as, “They are just going through a phase, it will pass.”
Here are some examples of “kids being kids” that will make you wonder how the parents have managed to keep from pulling their hair out.
1) Show and Tell
Little Marilyn Monroe puts on a show for her admirers as she strikes a pose over the vent in the floor. Curiosity is a natural part of growing up and it doesn’t take long before kids realize that there is something very different between boys and girls.
2) Go Easy on the Juice Boxes Baby
While daddy’s little girl enjoys her ice cream cone, Dad is wondering why he forgot to put the diapers on her this morning. That was a lot of juice!
3) Coke is not It!
One question…why? Apparently this kid thinks it would be cool to take a blast of soda up his nostril. He must have heard about someone snorting coke and got confused. The picture is cool though!
4) Water Sports
When Mother Nature calls, sometimes a guy has to do what a guy has to do, even if he’s in the middle of a photo shoot.
5) Hanging Around
Often, a young girl’s first job is babysitting. What do you think the parent’s reaction was when they came home to find their little one all wrapped up in something? At least she has company…haven’t you heard of “Duck Tape?”
6) Stuck In the Middle With You
It looks like Junior needs a little assistance after he misunderstands the purpose of the monkey bars. Someone call 911.
7) Potty Training
Its a very big deal to both children and parents alike when a child graduates to the toilet. These guys have learned to always use paper and be sure to wash your hands when you’re finished.
8) Nobody Understands the Artist
Children are often encouraged to express their creativity and what better way to do that than by painting. A little green here, a little red here and…Voila!
9) Who Needs Magazines?
It amazes me how hip today’s kids are to technology. This little computer whiz makes use of his spare time by learning about the home computer’s CPU.
10) Fire Bug
Didn’t anyone tell this kid, “If you play with fire, you’ll wet the bed?” By the looks of things, the bed, and the house its in, will soon be up in smoke!
Now I know a lot of you will blame this behavior on bad parenting, but you can’t be there all the time. It only takes a few minutes for a child to get themselves into all kinds of trouble. If your child demonstrates behavior similar to this, try not to get angry. Keep a sense of humor, be grateful that they are ok, and remember that you were once a kid yourself.
