A Major Marvel Character Nearly Died in Ant-Man 3

Ant-Man 3 had some wild ideas in its original script that never made it to the final cut, including killing off one of its main characters and introducing a man-sized ant with a voiceover by Werner Herzog. According to writer Jeff Loveness, who revealed the details in a recent chat with Backstory Magazine, Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) was almost killed off in the movie, and his consciousness was set to live on through the ants. “His consciousness was going to live on through the ants, and he was going to be like mentally controlling them,” Loveness said, adding that the idea was a “hive mind” of sorts. However, this idea never made it too far.

A man-sized ant that was supposed to appear in one of the film’s most extreme scenes was another idea that Loveness had, but it was quickly dropped. Loveness said:

“I had like a big, like man-sized ant that was going to be almost like a ninja turtle, the way they looked in that 1990s movie, not CGI, make it almost like a Cronenberg ant from ‘The Fly,'” the author said. And it appeared in his head. I wanted Werner Herzog to voice it and offer it some kind of Vision Quest or Holy Mountain advice. That didn’t get in,”

The final cut of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania still promises to be a thrilling experience for fans despite these intriguing concepts. The film follows the exploits of Super-Hero partners Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) as they continue their journey as Ant-Man and the Wasp. The family travels into the Quantum Realm with Hank Pym’s (Michael Douglas) and Janet Van Dyne’s (Michelle Pfeiffer) assistance. There, they come across strange new creatures and push themselves to their limits.

It won’t be a simple journey, though. They will compete against Kang, who will make his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as played by Jonathan Majors. Time-traveling antagonist Kang is well known for causing problems for the Avengers and other Marvel heroes. The impact he will have on the plot of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is yet to be seen, but it will undoubtedly be an interesting addition to the film.

With a physical home media release scheduled for May 16th, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will be made downloadable starting on April 18. The release date for the film on Disney is unknown, though. Fans will have to wait to find out when they can finally watch Ant-Man and the Wasp’s most recent adventures.
