Disney+’s X-Men Reboot’s Main Villain Revealed

Hey there, comic book fans! It looks like the X-Men are making a comeback in animation with the upcoming release of X-Men ’97, and we have some juicy details to share with you. Marvel recently hosted an event to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the X-Men in comics, and one section of the event was dedicated to the X-Men in animation. And of course, the biggest news was about the X-Men reboot’s main villain as it got revealed.

So, what can we expect from X-Men ’97? Well, for starters, we’ll get to see our favorite mutant heroes again as they deal with a world without their beloved Professor X. But they won’t be alone in their struggle. Beau DeMayo, the writer for X-Men ’97, revealed that the primary antagonist for the series will be none other than Mister Sinister! Mister Sinister, also known as Nathaniel Essex, is the master of cloning and a formidable foe for the X-Men. And to make things even more exciting, Christopher Britton will reprise his role as the voice actor for Mister Sinister, just like in the original X-Men: The Animated Series.

According to DeMayo, Mister Sinister has a “pretty foolproof plan” to take down the X-Men once and for all. But don’t worry, Magneto will be there to lead the X-Men and save the day. That’s right, Magneto will be the leader of the X-Men this season, filling the void left by Professor X’s departure from Earth. This might come as a surprise to some fans, but Magneto as a hero is not a new concept in the world of comics. The character has been grouped with the heroes in the original Secret Wars and has often been put in conversation with Professor X and his dream of equality for mutants.

But what makes this even more interesting is the theme of empathy that DeMayo hinted at during the event. Magneto is a character that represents aggressive justice for mutants, while Professor X represents equality for mutants. Empathy plays an important role in this central conversation with the X-Men as characters. And who knows, maybe this theme of empathy will extend to Mister Sinister as well.

After all, empathy is not a selective concept, and it’s possible that Mister Sinister’s plan might not have factored in the empathetic nature of the X-Men. We don’t have an exact release date for X-Men ’97 yet, but we do know that it will be coming to Disney+ this fall.

So mark your calendars, mutant fans, because it looks like we’re in for an exciting ride! What do you think about this X-Men Reboot’s main villain? Answers in the comments.
