Report: Loki Season 2 Release Date Window Updated

An updated Loki season 2 release date window has been revealed, which stars Tom Hiddleston as the mischievous Norse God. The information comes from a report by The Bespin Bulletin, a Star Wars news site, regarding the upcoming Disney+ series Ahsoka. The report states that Ahsoka won’t premiere on the streaming service until after two upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe series, Secret Invasion and Loki Season 2, with the former arriving in May and the latter “much later in the Summer.”

Fans of the MCU will have to wait a bit longer for Loki’s return with new episodes on Disney+. The first season of Loki premiered on Disney+ in June 2021, and the second season was initially expected to air in 2022. However, the updated release window now places the premiere in mid-2023. In the meantime, Marvel Studios has been teasing fans with what to expect from season 2. In the post-credits scene for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Hiddleston’s Loki and Owen Wilson’s Mobius M. Mobius locate another Kang variant named Victor Timely in the early 20th century.

The scene leaves fans wondering how this will factor into the second season’s storyline, but reports suggest that Jonathan Majors’ Kang will play a significant role in the new set of episodes. The updated release windows for both Secret Invasion and Loki come amid reports that Marvel Studios is slowing down its output to allow more time for shows to spend in early development and post-production. This change has already affected the spinoffs Echo and Ironheart, which were set to debut in 2023 but have reportedly been pushed back.

Agatha: Coven of Chaos has also had its release date delayed, with sources suggesting that the delay is due to story-related reasons and that “other things need to happen first” in the MCU before the series can premiere. Loki Season 2 will see the return of many of the first season’s cast members, including Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Ravonna Renslayer, Eugene Cordero as Casey/Hunter K-5E, Tara Strong as Miss Minutes, Sophia Di Martino as Sylvie, and Wunmi Mosaku as Hunter B-15.

The new additions to the cast include Ke Huy Quan, star of Everything Everywhere All at Once, who will play a Time Variance Authority archivist. Rafael Casal and Kate Dickie have also joined the cast in undisclosed roles. In conclusion, Marvel fans will have to wait until mid-2023 for the highly anticipated second season of Loki to hit Disney+. While the delay is disappointing, it’s clear that Marvel Studios is taking its time to ensure that its shows meet high expectations. In the meantime, fans can look forward to the upcoming Secret Invasion series and Ahsoka, both of which are expected to premiere before Loki Season 2.
