GOTG Vol 3 Poster: Karen Gillan Apologizes For Her Weird Pose

Karen Gillan, the actress known for portraying the character Nebula in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), recently apologized for an awkward pose on the recently released GOTG Vol 3 poster. As one of the stars of the film, Gillan has been part of the MCU for nearly a decade, playing the daughter of Thanos. As the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise barrels towards what is looking like the “end of the chapter” for this particular iteration of the intergalactic team, it is unknown if Nebula will make it out of the upcoming threequel.

However, seeing as she recently got a bit of an upgrade within the universe, it seems as though Marvel may be investing in the character for the long haul. The spotlight has been shown on Gillan’s way after the release of the first theatrical poster for director James Gunn’s latest MCU epic. Many fans took issue with the awkward pose chosen for Nebula, and it has become a trending topic on social media.

In a video on her personal TikTok account, Gillan joked about the pose, saying that she takes “full responsibility for this choice.” She remembered “doing this pose and thinking, ‘I think I look pretty cool here.'” Gillan further joked that she might “double down and make this pose a thing,” adding “You’ll be seeing that pose again somewhere where you’ll least expect it.” The awkward power stance has caught the eye of many online, with a number of sexist comments on not just Nebula’s pose, but her lack of feminine-presenting features seen on the poster.

Despite the backlash, it is worth noting that the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise is known for its quirky and eccentric characters. The poster features a dog in an astronaut suit, Chris Pratt listening to a Walkman, and Zoe Saldana’s Gamora striking a pose. It is not as though Gillan is the odd one out here. All of the Guardians look a bit silly, but that is part of the charm of the franchise. As for the ignorant comments on Nebula’s body on the poster, Karen Gillan is not addressing those trolls here, and she doesn’t need to.

The character looks incredibly badass – despite her odd posing choice – and should not have to justify a lack of attractive feminine features these internet trolls seem to be craving. “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” is set to hit theaters on May 5. It is the final installment in James Gunn’s trilogy and is expected to be a fitting conclusion to the story of the rag-tag group of space adventurers. In terms of plot details, little is known about the upcoming film, but fans can expect to see the return of fan-favorite characters such as Star-Lord, Gamora, Rocket, and Groot.

The film will also introduce new characters to the MCU, such as Adam Warlock, who is expected to play a major role in the plot. As the release date approaches, fans are eagerly anticipating the final chapter in the Guardians of the Galaxy saga. While the franchise has had its fair share of controversy in recent years, it remains one of the most beloved and unique properties in the MCU.

Karen Gillan’s apology for Nebula’s awkward pose on the poster has only added to the hype and anticipation for the upcoming film. Whether or not the actress follows through on her promise to make the pose a meme, fans are eagerly awaiting the release of “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” to see the next chapter in the adventures of their favorite space adventurers.
