Thor: Love and Thunder is about to hit Disney+, and it will soon be released on BluRay as well. So naturally, the deleted scene and added footage coming with it is going to make their way onto the internet now. So a new Love and Thunder Deleted Scene has arrived and shows us the youngest son of Zeus, Dionysus. Take a look:
Dionysus, played by Simon Russell Beale, also had another scene in the movie during Zeus’ exhibition in Omnipotence city. But many viewers may not have recognized who he was. He is the Greek God of fertility and wine. But his deleted scene in Love and Thunder doesn’t really add anything extra to the story. So, it was okay for this scene to be removed.
But we would love to watch the scenes involving the Grandmaster, Eitri, and whichever Goddess Lena Heady played. Here’s why the Grandmaster’s scene was deleted from the film, according to director Taika Waititi himself:
I wrote the thing so when you cut anything it’s a little bit of a challenge to yourself because you’re like, ‘Am I not that good? Should I have seen this coming?’ But every film I’ve done I’ve probably cut the same amount out. When you go into the edit you just never know. A scene on its own could be the most funniest thing or intriguing thing, but sometimes those things if you keep them in will just make the movie screech to a halt. So you have to do what’s best for the film.”
Another reason why there are so many deleted scenes is that there was a compulsion to keep the film under 2 hours. Joanna Robinson of The Ringer-Verse podcast (via ComicBook) revealed that the higher-ups at Marvel Studios kept a mandate upon Taika Waititi for keeping the movie less than 2 hours long. So that’s how the movie got ruined.
“Taika having a blank check on this is absolutely not the case. He got more leeway than he got with Ragnarok, but there was a mandate to bring this movie in under two hours. This comes in under two hours and they cut a ton of stuff out of this movie.
Taika is on record as not being in director’s cuts. We know Jeff Goldblum, Peter Dinklage, Lena Headey [were supposed to appear] and Simon Russell Beale appeared as Dionysus and had like two lines in this movie but has an above-the-line credit, so he was definitely supposed to be in this more. Gorr was definitely supposed to come in and kill a bunch of other people.”
Well, hopefully, some great deleted scenes will be released soon.
