WandaVision Director Matt Shakman Will Direct Fantastic Four?

The Fantastic Four movie will have a big presence at the D23 expo as we might get the revelation of its epic cast. MCU’s Spider-Man trilogy director Jon Watts was supposed to direct Fantastic Four, but he bowed out, and Marvel was left to look at other names. And they seem to have bagged the most excellent name they could have from the in-house Marvel directors’ squad. That’s none other than the WandaVision director Matt Shakman.

Deadline recently reported that Matt Shakman is in talks with Marvel to helm the upcoming Fantastic Four movie, which is supposed to go under production sometime next year. He was great as the WandaVision director, and he was picked up to make Star Trek 4 for Paramount. But nothing has been finalized, so it seems that Star Trek 4 will be delayed indefinitely.

The Hollywood Reporter’s Borys Kit also tweeted some names besides Matt Shakman, who were in contention for Fantastic Four. One of those was Love and Monsters director Michael Matthews and then Channing Tatum’s Dog director Reid Carolin was also in the race. But it seems that Shakman would be the guy partly because of what he did with WandaVision.

This will be a huge gig for him because Reed Richards could be the leading man for the next saga that follows the Multiverse Saga. So, if Matt Shakman delivers with Fantastic Four, he could steer the narrative from Phase 7 onwards with Fantastic Four sequels. And Fantastic Four will also have a huge input into Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars. So, Shakman is really going to be the man who has begun Phase 4, and now he’d be steering the whole narrative into Phase 6 and beyond.
