Brad Pitt’s New Action Movie Bullet Train Gets Majorly Mixed Reviews

August is going to be a month that’s full of binge-able content. But there’s not much to be offered in the theatres because we’ve just got Beast and Bullet Train released throughout the month. Still, people have been quite excited about Bullet Train because this R-Rated action thriller is directed by David Leitch, who has become a big-name action movie director since John Wick. And another reason for excitement is that this is Brad Pitt’s new action movie, and it stars several other familiar faces. But its early reviews are severely mixed.

The review embargo of Bullet Train has been lifted, and it is being called a fun summer action movie by many, while the others are roasting the lack of an actual plot in it. The basic consensus is – It is a wild and violent ride that’s thin on plot. Sadly, as of writing this article, its Rotten Tomatoes score is proving to be the worst amongst all David Leitch movies. It stands at 58% rotten with 40 Fresh reviews out of 68 reviews.

Here are a few reviews that would give you general knowhow of what this film is going to look like:

David Fear of Rolling Stone wrote:

“The amount of casual charisma and commitment Pitt is bringing to this is the one thing that actually differentiates this from being just another stylishly lit, stupid-hip snarkfest.”

Eric Eisenberg from CinemaBlend said:

“With a sensibility that could be described as early Guy Ritchie with more specific action focus, it’s a movie that is both silly and skilled and inspires its primary star in particular to do energetic and engaging work.”

Clint Worthington of Consequence reviewed:

“Really, what dooms this movie is the Deadpool effect, the overarching feeling that the filmmakers think their jokes and quips are a lot cleverer than they are, where mugging for the camera is sufficient to carry an otherwise tedious genre exercise.”

Laura Clifford from Reeling Reviews wrote:

“This bloated, soulless product boasts manufactured attitude trying to sell itself as hip with quirky cultural references, only coming alive with the inspired pairing of Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Brian Tyree Henry as sociopathic cockney ‘twins.’

Alistair Ryder of Looper.com stated:

“In its best moments, “Bullet Train” is everything you want from a popcorn blockbuster — but by the time the train arrives at its destination, it’s hard not to feel that we should have exited a few stations earlier.”

Alonso Duralde from The Wrap called it a wannabe Tarantino action movie:

“Feels plucked from the “Things to Do in Denver When You’re Dead” period, when Tarantino’s first features emboldened too many filmmakers to think that they, too, could make a zippy comedy with explicit gore, pop references and a briefcase full of cash.”

Brad Pitt’s New Action Movie

There have been many instances, like Venom, where the critics didn’t love a particular film, but the fans did. But the critics do turn out to be right most of the time. They were recently correct to pick on the failure of The Gray Man. So it’ll be interesting to see whether they are right about Bullet Train, or will it please the fans regardless of their thoughts.
