It’s been almost a week since Stranger Things 4 came out on Netflix and shattered its record on the first weekend. It has already beaten Bridgerton Season 2’s Netflix Viewership Record in its opening weekend. Stranger Things 4 is a fantasy, sci-fi show based in Hawkins, Indiana, and the sequel to the third season of the show. It picks up 6 months after the third season ended, and things are pretty much the same. Except that Hop is trapped in Russia and El is trying to adapt at a high school without her powers. Will and his family are in California, while Mike, Dustin, and Lucas are still in Hawkins. But with Lucas joining the basketball team, there has been a lot of tension between the three friends. But with a new threat in town, it’s time to unite the group and get El her powers back.
Netflix released the first part of the show last Friday, May 27. And the first responses and reviews have been great. Everyone appreciated the girls for their performances, especially Sadie Sink, whose one performance pretty much carried the show. Amazing performances from all the cast members helped it break the Netflix viewership record with such a remarkable margin.
STRANGER THINGS 4 BREAKS NETFLIX VIEWERSHIP RECORD
Before Stranger Things 4 came out, the record of the highest viewership in the opening weekend was held by Bridgerton 2. On its first weekend, viewers streamed the show for a total of 193 million hours worldwide. but Stranger Things 4 did not just pass it but shattered it. According to Variety, viewers of the show streames for a full 287 million hours during the full weekend. The interesting thing is that ST4 broke the record after Bridgerton 2 set it just a couple of months ago.
This is one of the biggest feats of the show as no one would have expected this. But at the same time, it would not have been that difficult, since fans of the show had been waiting for the show for almost 3 years. Another thing that could’ve helped the series reach the level it reached is the long episodes. Each episode of the series is approximately one hour long, with the final one almost as long as an hour and a half. With such an awesome response, the creators would have a hard time waiting for the next part of the season to drop.
The first part of Stranger Things Volume 4 is currently streaming on Netflix. The second part of the volume will be available for streaming from July 1.
