Endgame Was The Final Avengers Movie According to Kevin Feige

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is shaped by two things. First, it has an intricate storyline that is interlaced with different narratives and movies. Second, these intricate plot lines culminate into final events in the form of team-up movies. The most prominent of these features in the MCU has been the Avengers sub-franchise. The Avengers movies have been the source of success for the studio and fans eagerly await the next installment in the franchise. However, Kevin Feige has now made it clear that Endgame was the final Avengers movie.

The Final Avengers Movie

Kevin Feige appeared in the latest episode of Marvel Studios Assembled episode which focused on the production of Eternals. Here he talked about how Avengers 5 was not a priority for the studio and that they will try to develop the characters they have rather than focusing on the same old franchises. His exact words have been reproduced below for your perusal.

Here’s what Feige had to say:

“Marvel Studios and the Marvel Cinematic Universe is now past their tenth anniversary and with the release of the final Avengers movie, we’ve finally completed a 22-movie Infinity Saga. Where do we go from there? Where do we start? What we really wanted to do was two things: start fresh with whole new characters, new storylines, but also go back to some of the deepest richest mythology in all of Marvel Comics. I think we want there to be a reasonable amount of time from the Endgame to start a new saga, which is already underway and already started. And then you need time, as you did in Phase 1, to build that saga before you start bringing everyone together.”

Disney-Fox Deal

We think that Feige is being very careful with his words. So much so, that he has been wary of not letting anything slip. We think that him calling Endgame the “final Avengers movie” is a sly misdirection. He might be referring to it as the final movie where the OG Avengers assembled. For, after the death of Black Widow and Iron Man, we will never see an Avengers film where everyone is together. It is also possible that he is indicating at the fact that the Avengers franchise will be replaced by other team-up projects like Secret Wars or Young Avengers. We would have to wait to find out.
