The Marvels May Not Be Able to Explain The Absence of Captain Marvel

If the creatives of The Marvels (Captain Marvel 2) decide to pick up the movie right after Avengers: Endgame, they would be calling for trouble. And we have a perfectly good reason to think that. This is, of course, considering that The Marvels may not explain the absence of Captain Marvel during the blip (and before that). Bare with us to find out why we think that.

Set to release in the second month of 2023, The Marvels will probably be a team-up movie. The movie will see the newly added MCU character, Kamala Khan, teaming up with Carol Danvers and, now grown-up, Monica Rambeau. If the information from our sources is correct, the movie will pick up some time after the events of Ms. Marvel. But more importantly, this would be the first time we see Carol Danvers since Avengers: Endgame. And that is when the writers might prepare the scene for what Captain Marvel has been up to since that.

THE PROBLEMATIC PLOT OF CAPTAIN MARVEL 2

Absence of Captain Marvel

This is almost everything we know about the movie so far. And from the looks of it, the movie is heading towards trouble. Ever since her introduction in 2019’s Captain Marvel, fans have always wanted to know more about Danvers’ adventures. And we think this might be the movie where the developers let us explore more about her adventures. In one of her dialogues, she explained that she defends those planets that lack mighty superheroes, like the Earth’s Avengers. But the developers never gave us a glimpse of her in action, against intergalactic villains, other than the Kree. Also, during the blip, when almost every single individual would be grieving from a universe-wide crisis, she would have been the only ray of hope for them. It would have been interesting to see her helping those people.

But if the movie will see her unite with her niece-like character, Monica and Kamala Khan, the focus will be shifted from what fans really want to see. We have already seen this in MCU’s latest, Spider-Man: No Way Home. The movie had to overlook the main story in order to give fans the team-up of the decade. However, we do not know for sure if The Marvels will have to do the same. But if they try to distribute screen-time between the three protagonists, they’ll be repeating NWH’s mistake.

Absence of Captain Marvel

The movie can avoid this mistake, though. If they try to ignore Danvers’ missing time during the blip and the time heist and focus on the problem at hand, the movie could avoid the old mistakes. Or, if they end Ms. Marvel on a cliffhanger where the threat is too big for the newbie superhero. They could even establish a direct connection between the incoming threat and the galactic superhero, Captain Marvel. And if the threat is on her home planet, this would explain her team-up with Kamala Khan and Monica Rambeau.

Let’s wrap it up for now as we wait for more updates about the movie to see the light of the day. As of now, The Marvels will come out on February 17, 2023.
