Avengers: Endgame Director Talks About Returning for MCU’s Secret Wars Project
The MCU has been quite successful in establishing itself over the years with each of the projects. It saw massive success with the Infinity Saga as it featured one of the most interesting narratives possible filled with exciting details for the fans of the Marvel universe. This couldn’t have been possible without the Russo brother coming into the MCU and taking it in that direction. We are still waiting on MCU to deliver something that was as big as the projects in the Infinity Saga. There have always been rumors about the return of the Russo Brother to helm another project in the MCU. Joe Russo has cleared on some of these rumors by finally opening up about a possible new project for the MCU. The Endgame director also talks about MCU’s Secret Wars Project rumors.
Russo Brothers
The Russo brothers made their debut in the MCU with the sequel to the Captain America solo venture, Captain America: The Winter Soldier. They picked a specific tone to the movies and they then helmed the next big team-up of the Marvel heroes for the third entry into the Captain America movies, Captain America: Civil War. This has allowed us to see some very interesting plots and narratives that have allowed us to see the MCU in a lot more exciting manner.
Following the end of the Infinity Saga with the Avengers projects Infinity War and Endgame, the duo left the MCU. They didn’t stop associating with the Avengers stars as they produced the Chadwick Boseman movie 21 Bridges. This was not the only such project as they then followed up with producing the Chris Hemsworth movies Extraction which proved to be a massive success. They also directed Tom Holland in a completely different project titled Cherry which actually worked on the acting range of the actor.
Joe Russo Talks About MCU Project
As Phase 4 of the MCU kept on going fans started to wonder about the possibility of a completely new project in the MCU that would be helmed by the Russo’s. They have been busy with their own projects but they haven’t stopped talking about the MCU projects and everything happening over at the MCU. During the red carpet premiere of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Phase Zero’s Brandon Davis got into talking with Joe Russo.
Upon being asked about the potential for the duo to return to MCU to direct the Secret Wars project, he said:
Eh, you know one of these days, we’ll have to see how this all shakes out. I don’t know what they’re going to do with all these characters!
Later he was asked to comment on the rumors for some other Marvel project but he revealed that there is nothing there to say right away. His response was:
Uh, you know we love those guys and I can’t say one way or another. But I’d work with them in a heartbeat, best working experience of ours careers, they’ll like family to us, and you know we love this material and we love the fans.
Possible Next Russo Brother’s MCU Project
One of the biggest projects that have been under discussion for the directors to the helm is the Avengers 5 movie. Considering we might see a whole new team-up for the superhero team there is a lesser chance for such an MCU project to happen anytime soon. The Captain America solo ventures since Winter Soldier have been considered some of the most successful solo ventures in the franchise. But the next Captain America movie with Anthony Mackie taking on the role will be something that will definitely see the creators from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier taking the helm.
Recently, the duo has been doing projects on the streaming side more and it seems possible that they might end up doing the same. Their projects after the MCU have been on both Netflix and the Apple+ streaming platforms. Maybe we will see them getting on the Disney+ platform and working on an MCU series that will be something absolutely different to explore.
