Spider-Man: No Way Home was the final addition to the Spider-Man Homecoming trilogy and it does justice to the arc of Tom Holland’s character. This rendition of Spider-Man was largely different from the previous versions of Spider-Man and that made for an interesting narrative. The final movie actually took things to a whole new level as it brought together some of the major elements from the Spider-Man movies together. This is actually because of Jon Watts and his wonderful take on the character and the narrative. Fans can be excited as Jon Watts joins the Final Destination reboot for HBO Max as a producer.
Final Destination Franchise
Final Destination is one of the most famous horror franchises in Hollywood and it has got a massive fanbase. The movies took things to a whole new level with the idea of a pattern that did not point at someone specific for the deaths. The last addition to the series of movies was 2011’s Final Destination 5. It actually made a connection to the very first movie in the series from 2000 with the final scene. There had been reports for a reboot of the series for a long time now.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, director Jon Watts has joined the team for New Line’s Final Destination franchise. The movie has been titled Final Destination 6 and Watts will be serving as one of the producers for the project. It was also reported that the director actually wrote the story of the movie which will be released straight-to-steaming. New Line Cinema also confirmed this report along with the information regarding the movie being released on HBO Max.
In March 2020, fans actually got some insight regarding the plans for the movie when producer Craig Perry talked about the movie. He revealed that this movie will actually be in canon to the past few movies but there will be a lot more interesting characters being explored. He said:
We’re toying with having it take place in the world of first responders: EMTs, firemen, and police. These people deal with death on the front lines every day and make choices that can cause people to live or die. We rely on their good judgment, expertise, and calm demeanor. So why not put those people in the nightmare situation where every choice can bring about life and death – but now for themselves? We’re thinking that world might be an interesting way into a Final Destination movie, and one which can also generate unique set pieces in a very credible way.
Fans of the Spider-Man movies can be absolutely sure that Jon Watts’ addition to the team actually gives a lot more hope regarding the project. The director has dealt with one of the biggest Marvel Cinematic Universe events and actually delivers. But based on the reports, we might see some significant updates to the series being made with his addition. The director already has the massively hyped MCU Fantastic Four movie that he is actually supposed to direct next but there are no updates regarding its dates. This might be the most exciting bit of news for horror fans all over the world.
Final Destination 6 is finally happening and we will again get to visit some gruesome death sequences along with a mysterious pattern. With so much attention being paid to the project, will we finally get to see Death make an appearance in the movie? Initially, Saw writers Patric Melton and Marcus Dunstan were hired to write the script but with delays due to the pandemic, this role was given to Lori Evans Taylor.
Final Destination 6 has no confirmed release date yet but fans might get to see the movie on the HBO Max platform between 2023-24.
