7 Future Marvel Projects Where Andrew Garfield Could Return
Andrew Garfield first donned the Spider-Man costume in Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man duology. The movies didn’t receive the same love as Tobey Maguire’s or Tom Holland’s movies because of their unsatisfying scripts. However, that never changed the fact that Andrew Garfield’s iteration of Spider-Man was one of the most comic-accurate ones. Recently, Andrew Garfield reprised the role after almost 7 years in Spider-Man: NWH and broke the internet. Ever since that, fans are dying to see him in the costume again in upcoming Marvel movies. So, here’s a list of all possible Marvel projects where Andrew Garfield could return.
1. LOKI SEASON 2
Season 1 of the show left things on a cliffhanger, with the multiverse split open and multiple TVAs coming into existence. With season 2 already confirmed, we know that Loki will see the characters wandering through different universes, trying to contain the dangers caused by the multiverse. Marvel could have their fun with Loki traveling through some universes with old characters, for instance, Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man. Additionally, they can always add their twists, namely Andrew being with Mary Jane and not Gwen Stacy.
2. WHAT IF…? SEASON 2
If we are talking about season 2s, then Andrew Garfield must appear in a What If…? episode. Season 1 of the show tackled some of the most absurd possibilities in the lives of characters of the MCU. With Andrew Garfield already appearing in one movie, he could easily come to voice Spider-Man in an animated show. They could either include a TASM rip-off or create a completely different What If…?.
Andrew Garfield loves Spider-Man and this love is evident in his performance. So, a What If…? episode dedicated to his iteration might be a dream come true for him. Just imagine a What If…? episode where Garfield’s Spider-Man establishes a team of Earth’s Mightiest Superheroes and leads them. We already know that his universe lacks the Avengers but he gets inspired by Holland and finds his own team. I just got chills.
3. VENOM 3
One of the upcoming moves Andrew Garfield is rumored to appear in is Sony Entertainment’s Morbius. And another movie from the SPUMC is Venom. In the comics, the Venom symbiote is heavily associated with Spider-Man, and SPUMC’s Venom is yet to meet its Spider-Man to fully tap into a Spider’s powers. And with rumors surrounding Knull’s arrival in the Venom-verse, Edie Brock is gonna need some reinforcements. And who better to do that than Garfield’s Spider-Man who might belong to the same universe.
4. SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE
Into The Spider-Verse was a huge success for Sony Pictures and everybody has huge hopes for its sequel. Many fans felt the lack of a familiar Spider-Man actor voice in the first part, and Sony might solve this problem by bringing in Andrew Garfield. The first movie featured 6 Spider-Men and its sequel is going to bring back even more. We already know that Spider-Man 2099 is going to come back in time while Miles and Gwen take a walk across the Spider-verse. With a bigger threat coming for the Spider-Men, they are gonna need brothers, and we know that Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man wants more brothers. So, what better movie to bring him back than Across The Spider-verse.
5. SECRET WARS
Marvel is rumored to be currently working on a Secret Wars project that will come out in late 2023 or 2024. the movie was greatly inspired by the Secret Wars comics, which mainly featured many universes colliding. The comics featured some of the strongest characters from different universes going against each other in epic battles. And now that Tobey and Andrew have returned once, they could return once more to fight off the strongest Spider-Man villains together. The great thing about Secret Wars is that it doesn’t contradict any of the character’s arcs and can be picked up from wherever the creators want.
6. DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS
Multiverse of Madness is rumored to bring back some of the craziest variants of the character we already know. Additionally, one of the greatest appearances fans are waiting for is Tobey Maguire’s. It might seem unlikely. to some. of the fans but if Tobey is donning the Spidey suit again, so can Andrew. Marvel has already figured out the amount of money they can bring in by bringing back old characters, so a Spider-verse re-teaming will not be a huge surprise for spidey-heads.
7. THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 3
People have been clamoring for this film to happen ever since Garfield came back in No Way Home. So, maybe Sony would listen to the fans and give us a separate TASM 3 with Garfield.
