What Happened To Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man After The Amazing Spider-Man 2

Spider-Man: No Way Home has become the most successful Sony film with its box office numbers leading the charts. There is no wonder why this happened because the movie definitely managed to give us some of the most exciting moments in the world of Spider-Man. Amongst these, one has to clearly include the return of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man. Both the actors made a perfect return and had various callbacks to their past narratives. Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man was even given a particular scene that he deserved to have in the movie. Here’s a look at what happened to Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man after The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

The Amazing Spider-Man

Best Superhero Movies of This Decade

Andrew Garfield took on the role of Spider-Man following the reboot that was given to the franchise after the failure of Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3. This time around the Spider-Man character was given a certain change and the costume was made into a rather unique version that looked a lot more fresh. Fans were treated with a whole new narrative that was a lot more exciting instead and inspired by the later runs in the Spider-Man comics.

Fans were not expecting to see this character ever again after the second entry, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 received terrible reviews. But there were elements in this narrative that stayed on people’s minds. The plan for a third film was dropped but there was a buildup for it already exists. We saw his run as the character end as Peter thinks of giving up on Spider-Man following the death of Gwen Stacy.

Last We Knew Of Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man

The last time we saw Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man was in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, as he went through a terrible loss. He had failed to keep the promise he made to Gwen’s father and this led to her death. Then we saw him giving up on Spider-Man until he got to hear Gwen’s valedictorian speech. The speech talked about having hope in the darkest days and this ends up motivating Peter. We see him don the suit one more time to fight the villain Rhino who appears right before the credits of the film.

What Happened To Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man???

The version of Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man that we got to see in Spider-Man: No Way Home was a lot similar to where we had left him. We saw him still mourning the loss of Gwen and this has continued to affect him till. There were clear indications that he has barely managed to keep it together. It has to be because he has no friends, no new girlfriend, or anyone to talk to about his failure. But with all that he still swings across New York and maintains his work as a superhero even if he lacks some of the certain requirements to continue to do so.

What Happened To Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man

We see his character mention that he continues to don the costume but at some point, he has failed to pull back the punches. There are a lot of moments that he really needed to have this moment where he saw there were other Spider-Man in the multiverse. The character gets a lot of nods to his Spider-Man and Toby Maguire’s Spider-Man even calls him “amazing”. But one of the most emotional moments definitely has to be when he manages to save MJ who was falling in a manner that was quite similar to how Gwen was in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. This actually ends up providing some closure to this character.

This character seems to be a lot more inspired from the version of Spider-Man we got to see in the animated movie Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse with Jake Johnson. An interesting part of the movie actually saw that Toby Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man characters were a lot different. While Andrew Garfield’s one seems to be more taken over by the Spider-Man persona, the opposite is seen in the case of Tobey Maguire who appears to be more Peter Parker. The latter is something that is more balanced as he still manages to have his world instead of the Spider-Man persona. Spider-Man: No Way Home is in theaters now.
