John Wick has become a brand of action films that are rather different and carry a unique perspective that is not seen in many of the action movies recently. Fans of the franchise are always expecting how each movie will increase the chaos and the challenge for the titular character only increases. The mix of awesome stunts with an interesting type of action gives it a unique blend of cinematic perspective. There are not many franchises like this and John Wick becomes a natural contender for fans to wait as the next project. John Wick Chapter 4 release date has been delayed by 10 months, thus slating the movie for a 2023 premiere.

The production for the fourth film in the franchise was amongst the projects that suffered due to the pandemic. According to sources, the film was supposed to be shot back-to-back with its sequel but that plan was dropped and only Chapter 4 was filmed instead. Keanu Reeves saw a career comeback with the movies as he owned the style and the action of the movies. While the first film didn’t get much popularity upon its release and the sequels became more successful as they expanded on the world of the first films.

Lionsgate released a video on their Youtube channel to announce that the movie will now be released in 2023. The video did not tease anything particular as it was mostly repurposed footage from John Wick 3. This specific scene includes the one where we see the opening of a new contract on John Wick’s head. It comes as an absolute surprise that the movie was delayed by a year considering the filming for the project wrapped up during the fall. It was on track to meet the 2022 release date although not much is known about the post-production for the project. Even such a requirement could only have asked for a delay of 2-3 months but 10 months seems like a long period.
There is a possibility that this delay was done on the basis of the recent spike in Covid-19 cases and the spread of the Omicron variant. Even though the original release date for John Wick 4 was actually five months away, the studio seems to have been aware of how the audience might react to the movie in a period like this to affect the box office numbers. With the success that the franchise has experienced over the years, it won’t be surprising to hear that Lionsgate would want the movie to have the same success as the past films.
John Wick Chapter 4 will be released in theaters worldwide on March 24, 2023. Chapter 5 will probably arrive a year later.
