Jamie Foxx Reveals Why Green Goblin Is The Most Dangerous Villain of No Way Home

The marketing for Spider-Man: No Way Home is in full scale and this has already allowed us to see some rather exciting things about the movie. The movie will actually feature some of the most awesome villains we have gotten to see in the past Spider-Man movies. Peter Parker will go for his biggest ride yet as the characters return for an amazing venture into the Multiverse. Amongst the various villains, we will get to see in the movie, there is a chance that some of them might be more significant than the others. Appearing on the Villains Panel, Jamie Foxx revealed why Green Goblin is the most dangerous villain of No Way Home in comparison to the others.

In a panel for the CCXP Comic-Con in Brazil, we got to see the three actors portraying the villains in Spider-Man: No Way Home come together. The actors were asked various questions regarding their parts in the movie and how it is different from their past characters in the previous Spider-Man movies. Tom Holland introduced them while talking to us about the idea behind the movie and what to expect from No Way Home. The actors said that this movie will be a culmination of the entire Spider-Man: Homecoming trilogy helmed by director Jon Watt.

The other actors talked about the excitement they had upon finding out that their characters will be making a return in the franchise in the movie. Otto Octavius actor, Alfred Moline praised how the franchise has been able to work on its own story along with the heroes. He said:

The thing about grounded villains, and this is what’s so wonderful about the villains in the Marvel universe, if you like, is that so many of them become villains almost reluctantly, almost in spite of themselves. An accident happens, or some terrible tragedy, and it transforms them. And that’s what makes them very playable, because it’s not just mustache-twirling, there’s some real depth to it. And that’s what makes them interesting. In a lesser environment, us as villains, we would just be functionaries. We would just be there to get the plot going. But here, we’ve got real storylines, they are real people.

Why Green Goblin Is The Most Dangerous Villain

One of the questions saw an answer that might have ended up giving us an idea as to who might be the biggest challenge for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man in the movie. Jamie Foxx said that Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin might be carrying a certain weight considering the villain has a personal element with the hero. He revealed:

I mean it’s crazy because, like I said, we just been watching Willem, and it seems personal. Because with Electro it’s to the world. The world did me wrong. But when something is personal, and you can go all the way back to Shakespeare, when something is personal, there’s nothing that beats that. No matter what costume you put on. No matter what you say. So when [Willem] speaks, he has the power… anytime you can get a character to be personal in the movie, it has the most weight.

Dafoe himself said that Green Goblin’s return might be quite a serious affair and that he will be quite more than the usual villain-type character. The actor said:

Green Goblin has a case to state this time. He’s trying to make his case, a philosophy of life. It’s not just about some kind of abstract, mustache-twirling power grab.”

Why Green Goblin Is The Most Dangerous Villain

Fans might be wondering what sort of personal weight this character might be carrying and how this will impact Spider-Man. The character was not an ordinary villain in his first appearance in the Sam Raimi movie either and was able to prove his weight in the persona. These revelations indicate that while the movie might feature a lot of villains, these villains won’t be used as throwaway characters and rather have a depth of their own. While the Sam Raimi villains were given a proper arc, it would be absolutely awesome to see how Now Way Home brings a whole new layer to their arcs.

Saturday was the first time we got to see Willem Dafoe confirm the fact that he was a part of the movie as a clip from the movie was also shown where he was seen throwing the Pumpkin Bomb. The actor surely was able to keep the secrecy behind his appearance in the movie as it was only confirmed after he started appearing in the trailer. Alfred Molina joked about how his being part of the movie was the worst kept secret and how it was known to the entire world that he would be a part of the movie.
