How Miles Morales Could Replace Peter as The New Spider-Man of MCU

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is on its fourth phase. When Iron Man was first released no one could have anticipated that things would escalate so far. Now more than 13 years later, we are getting some of the craziest stories in the MCU. The multiverse is here and it comes bearing gifts. Most of these gifts are coming in the form of Spider-Man: No Way Home. Although the story of the movie is kept under wraps we believe that Miles Morales could replace Peter in the MCU because of it.

You see, the film theorists released this video on YouTube. It is a complete and utter scene-by-scene breakdown of the No Way Home trailer that introduces us to all kinds of new theories about the movie. Mat Patt is famous for his analysis of these trailers and his predictions are mostly correct. The reason for this is his ardent devotion to the content he theorizes about. The No Way Home trailer sent the fandom into a frenzy. Everything we had theorized was coming true as things started expanding.

As we saw the trailer again and again we kept realizing that something was definitely amiss in this world. This suspicion was confirmed when Doctor Octopus from Spider-Man 2 showed up to greet Peter. Although it is still not revealed which Spider-Man is he talking to. As things stand there is an expectation of more than one Spider-Man in No Way Home. Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire will likely make an appearance in the movie. Although the scope of their role is not confirmed.

The Spider-Men of the Multiverse

The video theorizes that all of the different film realities of Spider-Man will coalesce in Spider-Man: No way Home. Then it goes on to iterate the comic storyline from which the movie is inspired. Surprisingly it is not One more day but it’s the sequel comic One moment in Time. Although not much different from the original comic, this sequel focuses more on Peter’s acceptance of his double life as compared to the last one. Also in this version, Dr. Strange is the spell caster and not Mephisto. But we are not here to talk about that.

Miles Morales could replace Peter

The main point of our discussion today is the possibility of a soft reboot to Spider-Man and the future of the character in the MCU, or outside of it. One part of this is the fact that Marvel’s deal with Sony for using Spider-Man in the MCU ends with No Way Home. It is expected that Marvel will re-open negotiations for future film rights but as of now, they are about to lose the character. This means that the multiverse story could be an exit for Spider-Man from the MCU. The theory is that after No Way Home Peter will end up in the SPUMC.

Part of the reason for this theory is that the marketing for Venom: Let there be Carnage has started talking about Spider-Man and while the discussion is not unique, the timing is certainly interesting. There is a possibility that the after-credits scene of Venom: Let There be Carnage will introduce Tom Holland’s Spider-Man into the SPUMC. So if all of this evidence (the end of the contract and the marketing trend) is considered in tandem it becomes readily apparent that Tom Holland will end up in SPUMC.

Hence, it seems highly likely that there is going to be a soft reboot to the character of Spider-Man in the MCU because Holland is surely headed to battle Venom. So the question now becomes, who will fill the shoes of Spider-Man in the MCU. Well, folks, we have an idea. It is something that Marvel has already set up. In the first Spider-Man movie, we met Aaron Davis. Yes folks, Aaron Davis, as in the uncle to Miles Morales. Miles Morales could replace Peter in the MCU while the latter battles it out with Venom Symbiote in SPUMC.

This will enable a harmonious exchange between the companies and give them time to negotiate further while also developing the character of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man further. This will act as a soft reboot in the MCU but can be retconned with Multiverse theory in later movies. It is the perfect setup and, likely, such a thing may actually end up happening.
