The Batman Set Photos Revealed Villains:
The Batman has been filming in Liverpool, UK for a while now. In the last week or so, we’ve got our hands upon a lot of new intel such as the relationship between Selina Kyle & Carmine Falcone, the connections between Mayor Mitchell and the mob bosses such as Cobblepot and Falcone. Other set photos showed Batman’s practical flight suit and other gadgets. Then, a couple extras wearing Superman & Wonder Woman costumes were spotted on set. And now, we’ve found out about more details regarding the film’s story.
Brandon Davis of Comicbook.com took a photo from the new set of The Batman in Chicago. As you can see, this is an image of a Taxicab which has 2019 written upon it. We were all led to believe that The Batman is a Year 2 story of Batman which takes place in the present day. But, the movie seems to be taking place around the fourth quarter of the year 2019. We made out the fourth quarter bit through the superhero costumes that the extras were seen wearing. That’s because these extras are going to be involved in a Halloween party. So, The Batman is taking place in the month of October.
Two other details that we have figured out are about new Batman villains. As you could clearly see in the above tweet, there are images which point towards the existence of GothCorp. Batman fans would recognize this company as the one where Dr. Victor Fries worked before he came across an accident and turned into Mr. Freeze.
So, The Batman sequels could bring in Mr. Freeze since Dr. Fries probably exists in Gotham already. Here’s how Mr. Freeze has been described in DC Comics:
“Having a cold heart doesn’t mean you’re incapable of feeling love. Just ask Victor Fries. His is a sad tale of loss, obsession and villainy.
An expert in the field of cryogenics, Victor led a relatively normal existence. He worked diligently, but also fell in love with and eventually married a woman named Nora. Sadly, things took an unfortunate turn soon after. Nora became terminally ill, and to stop her degenerative disease from taking her life, Victor put her into suspended animation. His devotion to Nora led to his downfall.
The corporation funding Victor’s work shut down his experiments and, in the process, caused a horrible accident, errantly releasing coolants in his lab that did irreparable harm to Victor’s body’s chemistry. Transforming the former Dr. Fries into an ice-colored monstrosity, the coolants made it impossible for him to survive above freezing temperatures. To counteract this, Victor constructed a special, ultra-durable suit to keep his body alive and at the right temperature. He embraced his new persona and became Mr. Freeze.
Mr. Freeze is on a constant quest to bring back his beloved Nora, and he’ll do whatever it takes to succeed. He wields a freeze gun and uses ice and cold to wreak havoc—mostly in Gotham and against Batman, but he’ll turn his chill upon anyone standing in his way.”
Besides Freeze, there’s another villain that has been teased through these images. If you look at the word “STAB” written in the above image, the “A” looks peculiar. It is actually the logo of The Batman villain, Anarky aka Lonnie Machin who targets entities he sees as symbols of oppression, most often corporations. He isn’t a villain that is as familiar as the likes of Penguin, the Court of Owls, the Riddler or even Mr. Freeze. But he clearly exists in Matt Reeves’ story and there’s a chance that he could appear in The Batman or in its sequels. Although, we’ll have to wait and see how things turn out in the film.
Directed by Matt Reeves, The Batman stars Robert Pattinson as the Bruce Wayne, Zoe Kravitz as Selina Kyle, Paul Dano as Edward Nashton, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson, Jayme Lawson as Bella Reál, with Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as Oswald “Oz” Cobblepot. It arrives on March 4, 2022.
