Watch how Tom Holland auditions for his Civil War debut as Spider-Man with Chris Evans. Fans were ecstatic to have Spider-Man reunite with his Marvel family when the news of him joining MCU broke the headlines. For years, Spider-Man’s storyline was taken out separately in Sony Universe as Marvel didn’t hold the rights. MCU and Sony’s deal gave a new opportunity to Marvel to reintroduce their hero in their universe. That’s what decided this title “Homecoming” for his first standalone movie. But before Spider-Man: Homecoming, the studios decided to bring the character in Civil War as a pilot appearance to check how he was accepted by the audience. Captain America: Civil War also became a great promoting platform for the new member.
Since 2016, Spider-Man has gathered a lot of attention from fans and his popularity is only expanding further. The young superhero has charmed the audience and become a great marketing face for MCU within a span of 4 years. A great deal of credit for the success of Spider-Man goes to Tom Holland. Holland has become a sweetheart of MCU as well as of Marvel fans. He has earned a great fan following and a global recognition. So far, Holland has appeared in 5 MCU movies already with 2 being his standalone.
He made his debut in Civil War with other Avengers, followed by his super hit solo movie and later Infinity War and Endgame that escalated his stardom to greater heights. Even though, his position in MCU had felt tremors in recent months due to the infamous discord between MCU and Sony, which threatened his future with the former. But his world-wide popularity and his own efforts pressed the 2 studios to let Spidey stay in the MCU. Besides, now that Iron Man and Captain America, the biggest superheroes of MCU, have left the franchise, Spider-Man is the potential new face of MCU. After the success of his 2nd installment, Far From Home, Holland and MCU are set to make Spider-Man 3 which is most likely due in 2021. He is also fixed for one more crossover movie until the deal is renewed. However, the pandemic COVID19 has impacted the work and release schedule of MCU as well. Considering the huge cliff-hanger that the 2nd part ended with, we can’t wait for Spidey’s return on the big screen.

In a recent video released by IGN on Twitter, Tom Holland is seen giving his screen-test for Spider-Man in Civil War along with Chris Evans’ Captain America. This nostalgic video has led to Spider-Man becoming a trendy topic again all over the internet. Fans can’t help but gush over the young and adorable Holland nailing his auditions. The video follows Holland reading his lines with Evans for their first encounter at the airport during the Civil War. Holland was always the top choice for the casting directors for his athletic background and gymnastic proficiency. He further impressed the Civil War directors, Joe and Anthony Russo with his terrific acting chops.
Holland also gave his screen-test with Robert Downy Jr. who played Iron Man in the MCU as the 2 characters were meant to share a lot of screen space and form a strong connection. Therefore, it mattered how Holland’s chemistry with Stark appeared on the screen. No doubt that they made an excellent choice as not only did we love Tom Holland as Spidey but our hearts melted over Tony Stark and Peter Parker’s bond. It is mind-blowing how fast Spider-Man became the face of MCU.
Even though many actors have carried the mantle of this superhero in the Sony universe, Tom Holland’s Spider-Man has witnessed an unprecedented height and fame. MCU has the ability to make its characters relatable to the viewers and it has successfully done the same with Holland’s young and witty Peter Parker.
