After Snyder Cut the Internet is Buzzing About David Ayer’s Cut of Suicide Squad

David Ayer’s Cut of Suicide Squad:

Zack Snyder’s Justice League was just announced yesterday and the Internet has erupted over the future possibilities after the Snyder cut. There is an assumption that we will also get Justice League 2, Justice League 3, and even Man of Steel 2. But since the fans made a director’s denied version to be green lit by a major conglomerate, the word is that they’re trying it with another major film that WB meddled with.

David Ayer's Cut of Suicide Squad

Warner Bros massively edited Batman V Superman and then they had to release an Ultimate Edition for it. They did the same with David Ayer’s Suicide Squad. Most of the film’s footage was left lying on the cutting room floor. Jared Leto had shot enough footage to make a solo Joker film. But the amount of footage that ended up in Suicide Squad only made us feel like Joker had a cameo and nothing more. Leto has shown his disappointment over the Joker scenes being cut out of Suicide Squad multiple times.

David Ayer acknowledged that the theatrical version was far off from his story. In the reshot version, story arcs of Diablo and Harley Quinn were, massively simplified. The entire third act of the Suicide Squad was reshot. Suicide Squad was supposed to have a major connection with the Justice League as Enchantress would have led to the arrival of Steppenwolf.

With all these details being known to the audience, the fans are now wondering whether David Ayer’s Suicide Squad will also get the same treatment as Zack Snyder’s Justice League. It is AT&T, the owner of WarnerMedia that has made the release of the Snyder Cut possible. Zack Snyder reportedly held a private screening for WB executives an AT&T executives in the first quarter of 2020. Other rumors have suggested that a AT&T executives loved Zack Snyder’s Justice League and that is why they agreed for it to be launched on HBO Max. Well that much seems true.

But could it happen for David Ayer’s Suicide Squad? Possibly not, because David Ayer himself has stated on twitter that the Ayer Cut will remain nothing but a rumor. Furthermore, the kind of hype that was raised for the Snyder cut was never raised for the Ayer cut of Suicide Squad. People raised their voices for Snyder cut so much because it was the Justice League property that was under consideration. Warner Bros. was doing Justice League for the first time and they did not do it right. It is a far bigger and more familiar property as compared to Suicide Squad. And because it was the third time that Warner Bros was meddling with the director’s vision, the fans just could not take it anymore. But even if David Ayer’s Suicide Squad cut had any chance of seeing the light of day, it is long gone now.

David Ayer's Cut of Suicide Squad

James Gunn is coming up with his own Suicide Squad movie which people actually trust in. So a David Ayer cut off Suicide Squad can never happen. Even though the first Suicide Squad movie was thrashed by the critics, it turned in a major profit and even won an Oscar for Best Makeup and Hairstyling. There is no chance whatsoever for Warner Bros. to go back to the first one when there’s another one coming just next year. In the case of Suicide Squad, it is time to let go of the past and embrace the future.

Although if we do raise our voices enough just like we did with the Snyder cut, there is a chance that Henry Cavill could still remain in the DCEU as Superman. There is still a chance that we could get Zack Snyder’s Justice League 2 and 3. But if you talk about going back to movies that have already released, and releasing a different cut of those films, then you are living nothing but a pipe dream because that cannot happen for any film other than Zack Snyder’s Justice League. The situation with the Justice League was different than any other film.
