TV Shows Cancelled Before Their Time:
Now and then we stumble upon an awesome TV show and believe it is going to be the next best thing. But sometimes, fate has different plans as these shows are canceled prematurely due to the foolishness of the producers. In a world where senseless shows are renewed continuously, we just wanted these awesome shows to make that cut.
#10: Heroes (2006 – 2010)
Heroes is an innovative sci-fi TV series that is set in a world where Superheroes are a thing. The writing is very intelligent and it doesn’t feed you anything. Even though the quality dropped a bit after the first season, it was still one of the most popular TV shows at that time. The show was canceled after season 4 as the writers could not see an interesting future for the show.
#9: Freaks and Geeks (1999 – 2000)
This Comedy-Drama starring James Franco, Jason Segel, and Seth Rogen was abruptly canceled just after one season simply because NBC did not care about this show. The Creative differences between Judd Apatow and NBC were also a red flag. The show could have been something great as it had all the elements required for success.
#8: Constantine (2014 – 2015)
John Constantine is an awesome DC character and he deserves more recognition. This show was canceled only after one season as it could not attract a lot of viewers. But we still believe that the show should have been continued as the character is amazing. After watching him in the Arrowverse, all our doubts were cleared about the character.
#7: Twin Peaks (1990 – 1991)
The ratings of this amazing Crime-Mystery show took a beating after ABC changed its time slot due to the Gulf War and during that time, it was a death sentence for a show. ABC even changed the storyline, making the second season a lot weaker in comparison to the first and finally the feuds between the actors were the final nail in the coffin.
#6: Sense8 (2015 – 2018)
Sci-Fi shows are loved all over the world but Sense8 was a lot more than that. It is one of the most intriguing TV shows to come out in the past few years, but unfortunately, it was canceled after two seasons. The show was simply canceled because not enough people were watching it, which is a disheartening reason.
#5: The Punisher (2017 – 2019)
All of us knew Jon Bernthal from something, but he gave his career-defining performance in the Punisher. The show had superb ratings and everyone loved it, but even that could not prevent its demise. The show was canceled after Disney decided to terminate its partnership with Netflix, as Disney wanted to keep their originals for their streaming service Disney+.
#4: Arrested Development (Original run) (2003 – 2006)
Arrested Development is one of the most intelligent comedy shows of all time and it has always been the favorite of critics. Despite all the praise, the show was always on the verge of cancellation. The show was ahead of its time, and even though it was revived after everyone realized that, the cancellation hurt the fans and the show a lot.
#3: Hannibal (2013 – 2015)
Hannibal Lecter is one of the most famous characters and Mads Mikkelsen’s portrayal of the cannibalistic serial killer was amazing. It is a very thought-provoking show, full of disturbing imagery, and that hampered the viewership of the show. The Producers even cite Piracy as a reason for the cancellation of this show, which is a shame.
#2: Daredevil (2015 – 2018)
Daredevil is one of the biggest reasons for the success of Netflix. The fans are still crazy about this show and we are still in shock. After the Disney-Netflix partnership ended, all the Disney shows were canceled. We are still hoping to see this character make a come-back as the story is nowhere near the end.
#1: Firefly (2002 – 2003)
There is no other series that deserves a revival more than Firefly. The producers were wrong to cancel this show and we are still in denial. The show had the potential to become the biggest sci-fi series of all time but all of us were robbed of this. The fans still love this show more than anything and are still sour about its cancellation.
