Just Recently, New Rockstars were able to find out a big piece of the final elaborate Easter Egg that James Gunn hid in Guardians of the Galaxy. Apparently, the Easter egg is hidden in the coordinates of all the cosmic locations that are hidden in the film. And through these egg, it has been defined that Peter’s mom Meredith Quill was actually a humanoid form of Eternity (or probably Death/Infinity) and she has been guiding Peter through the mix tapes she made for Peter. Every time we see Peter Quill listening to his Walkman, it actually represents how his mom is speaking to him through her loving music.
Now that James Gunn has mostly approved the fact that Meredith Quill was also an ancient cosmic deity, it becomes obvious why Peter Quill was the only one who carried the celestial gene out of all the spawn that Ego had on the numerous planets in the Galaxy. He was basically the product of two cosmic Gods. He carried the celestial gene and was able to control the light in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, but he also lost the light when Ego died.
We were actually impressed to know that Star-Lord had God level strength. While watching Vol. 2, all that came to our minds that he was the most powerful member of the team and could easily defeat someone like Thor. But by the end of the movie he lost his connection to the so-called “light” and that brought his strength level down. But despite a big power down, he was able to impress us when he fought 3 of the Avengers. He bested Iron Man for a while and held Spidey captive (although he would’ve lost in the longer run).
All of us were convinced that Star-Lord will have to be smart about the way he fights individuals in the future. But with the new revelation, we have reason to believe that he could actually regain his god-level strength. In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, the truth about his true lineage might be revealed to him when he comes face to face with the real version of his mom, i.e. Eternity. It was teased back in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and now it could happen in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. And then Eternity might unlock his true potential.
The reason we believe he needs a power-up is because of Adam Warlock. James Gunn has been setting up the arrival of Adam Warlock since the first Guardians of the Galaxy film. It’s likely that he already exists in the Sovereign, and now Ayesha will finally send him to attack the Guardians. Thor is currently hanging out with the Guardians but he will not be with them forever. In fact, the kind of story that James Gunn might want to tell probably wouldn’t include Thor at all. So how do the Guardians plan to hold up against the insane level of power that Adam Warlock will supposedly possess. That is why Peter will power up again.
Star Lord is going to take on Adam Warlock while Rocket & co handle the High Evolutionary. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is supposed to be more about Rocket than everyone else, but we do believe that Peter’s story is still incomplete. He needs to gain more points in the eyes of the fans who saw him bursting out at Thanos like a hormonal teenager.
So, Peter becoming an omnipotent member of the team would certainly give him a few points. In fact, it could actually set up his one on one battle against Thor. Who knows what’s going to happen in the future, but a fair fight where Thor & Quill possess God level strength would be truly awesome to witness.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will probably hit theatres in May 2023.
