How Zack Snyder’s Justice League Could Fix Lex Luthor

Zack Snyder’s Justice League Fix Lex Luthor:

Zack Snyder’s Justice League will supposedly give all of its main leads and supporting characters a bit more to do. Not only will we get more screen time for all 6 Leaguers, but we’d also see a lot more from characters like Jim Gordon, Silas Stone (okay maybe less from him since he’s supposed to die), Alfred, Mera, Nuidis Vulko, Darkseid and possibly even Lex Luthor. While we’ve seen enough from most of these characters to say that they were handled well, there’s a bit of baggage that Lex Luthor will be carrying from Batman V Superman to Justice League.

The majority of people hated Jesse Eisenberg’s portrayal of Lex Luthor. People share the feeling that Lex Luthor was miscast. Even though the look of Lex Luthor suited Eisenberg as he got bald, his mannerisms just didn’t fit well with the character. Those mannerisms made Luthor seem much closer to Joker. Even though the plot and Eisenberg’s portrayal was able to convey the cynical villain that Lex Luthor is, it’s fair to say that the conveyance of the character was more controversial than satisfactory.

But one should keep in mind that Snyder’s take upon his characters and the story wasn’t normal. He had a broad vision, and the things that ho chose for his broad vision actually fit in quite well. Moreover, all his story elements and characters would’ve become much better and clearer with time. Joss Whedon had to cut out almost 2 hours of what Snyder had shot. Hence, we know that the Snyder Cut will now fix all the Justice League characters with the longer screen time and elaborate story arcs.

The same should be the case for Lex Luthor as he was obviously supposed to have more scenes. Joss Whedon simply had him appear on a boat in the post-credits scene, but we were actually supposed to see him having spent some time in prison. Moreover, he would’ve had some connection to the arrival of Steppenwolf, and Zack Snyder even revealed in the past that Darkseid has great plans for Lex Luthor. Hence, there will be more to Luthor if the franchise gets to move forward.

Zack Snyder's Justice League Fix Lex Luthor

As of now, Screen Rant has come up with a way as to how Zack Snyder’s Justice League could fix Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor and get people onboard with his different portrayal of the big DC villain. What we saw in Batman V Superman was an origin story of Luthor. He was portrayed as a rather awkward Genius Billionaire than the menacing villain that he is. But that could change now as Luthor has started off on his villainous journey, and his time in prison would’ve hardened him, probably making him a little calmer, smarter and closer to the real Luthor we know and love. This is the sort of transformation that would make Luthor more appealing, and probably make Eisenberg’s portrayal more meaningful.

Let’s just hope that we get Justice League 2 and 3 as well because that is what Snyder had planned. Jessie Eisenberg was asked about whether he’d like to return and play Lex Luthor again if it were possible. And here’s what he had to say:

“I don’t even know if they know what they’re doing with the movies, but for me it was exhilarating. I would love to play that role forever. I have no knowledge about what they’re doing with it.”

He even told Digital Spy that he was happy about the release of Zack Snyder’s Justice League:

“I spoke to Zack a couple of weeks ago and he told me about it. Yeah [I’m excited], because I’m friends with Zack. I’m so happy for him that he gets to release something he’s proud of. I mean, I can’t think of any other precedent in history where there was something of this scope. Because it’s not just about releasing the movie, but it required all of this… we call it post-production. So it’s not just they’re releasing scenes that are finished, they had to do a lot of post-production and it’s such a big process. And yeah, I’m so happy for him. He’s a great guy with a very, very specific vision and so, yes, I’m happy that he gets that. And he seemed really happy.”

Would you like to see the transition of Lex Luthor into the big villain that he is? Or do you think that this character is beyond repair? Tell us in the comments.
