Avengers: Endgame Directors Share The Theater Reaction of “I am Iron Man” Scene

It has been over a year since we got to see Endgame, the biggest movie event in the history of movies. No other film had manages to generate such an insane amount of hype, and break all Box Office records. Sadly, it seems like no other movie will ever be able to do that again. That’s because movies won’t have massively loved characters like Iron Man & Captain America any more. Iron Man got the biggest MCU a character could ever get. While everyone in the theatre screamed looking at Steve Rogers finally lifting the hammer, they screamed even louder looking at Tony’s Snap. Who would’ve thought that “I am Iron Man” would end up becoming more relevant than “I’m Batman.” But it did. Here, check out the audience reaction on the opening night of Endgame:

What followed this scene was a bitter sweet moment as all of us had to witness our favorite character die. It was truly emotional and captured really well. Tony’s death was the moment where it was pin drop silence in the theaters as no one said a word. The culmination of the Infinity Saga felt so satisfactory. That is not just because of Tony’s snap, but also because of what preceded it. And that was none other than the “Avengers Assemble” moment. Take a look at the constant cheers of joy recorded by Joe Russo’s phone:

We cannot thank Marvel enough for making our lives so amazing with their exclusive content. Too bad DC films just couldn’t give us something so lovable with their connected Universe. The success of Avengers: Endgame became possible because of all the heroes and the stories they’ve been telling over the years.

Here’s what Joe Russo said about two of the biggest heroes in Endgame, Steve Rogers & Tony Stark:

“All heroes are made complicated by the circumstances in their life, right? Captain America and Winter Solder in Civil War… the essential nature of his conflict is he was created by his country, and what happens when he stops trusting his country? He’s gone from a patriot to an insurgent. That’s as full of an arc as you could possibly give a character.

Tony is essentially an egoist, and what is the essential conflict for an egoist? Is it about what the egoist wants, or is it about subjugating the ego to what others may want from them? And family is really the most essential way to get to that conflict with Tony.”

Both Chris Evans & Robert Downey Jr. have said their goodbyes to Marvel. But in the recent months, we’ve actually got two teases from RDJ about his eventual return to the MCU. Along with the two videos you saw above, the Russo Brothers also shared with us the last day of shooting for Robert Downey Jr. Apparently, director Joe Russo teased that they might have to return and do this again. And to that, Robert Downey Jr. simply replied, “The people will move us toward what they want.” We’d love it if Downey ever returns to the MCU.

We already know that we will see Tony Stark in Black Widow and then Robert Downey Jr. would also voice him in the What if…? series on Disney+. But it’d be awesome to see a Tony Stark flashback cameo along with Peter Parker & Pepper. Apparently, working with Holland & Paltrow is one of the conditions that Robert Downey Jr. has for his Marvel return. And this condition could be fulfilled in Spider-Man 3. If not a cameo, then Tony could come in as an AI just like in the comics. And he could replace EDITH. Except for Marvel, no one knows what the future really holds for us. So, we’re just throwing ideas.

Would you like to see Tony Stark return? Tell us in the comments.
