Report Reveals Second Movie in DC Studios’ Rebooted Slate

DC Studios’ James Gunn and Peter Safran’s upcoming Chapter 1 will introduce us to a new cast of characters, so get ready, DC fans, for the second film in the DC Studios’ rebooted slate. There are still more surprises in store, even though we already knew about The Authority and Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. The Authority will be released after the release of Superman: Legacy, according to a recent report. We still have a while to wait for the movie to arrive on our screens because it is rumored to be in theaters in 2026.

Jeff Sneider, a business insider who shared this juicy tidbit on the The Hot Mic podcast, has a strong history of reporting on DC scoops. As always, though, we have to take it with a grain of salt until the studio officially confirms it. So, what’s The Authority all about, you ask? Well, this team of “heroes” isn’t afraid to get their hands dirty and use extreme methods to protect the planet. Think Jack Nicholson in A Few Good Men, but with superpowers. Sounds intriguing, right?

Director James Gunn is pretty pumped to introduce this squad of misfits. Meanwhile, co-head of DC Studios, Peter Safran, revealed that the upcoming film will explore the team’s tactics in depth. We can’t wait to see how they explain the characters’ unorthodox methods in the movie. But wait, there’s more! According to insider KC Walsh, Superman will eventually cross paths with The Authority at some point in Chapter 1. While this seems like an epic showdown waiting to happen, it won’t be featured in The Authority’s flick.

It’s probably for the best, to be honest. Giving The Authority their own standalone movie first will allow viewers to get to know the characters better before they face off against Superman. We’re all about character development and world-building, so we’re definitely excited to see how the studio pulls this off.

Here’s the lineup of upcoming DCU movies under the DC Studios banner:

  • Superman: Legacy
  • The Authority
  • Brave and the Bold
  • Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow
  • Swamp Thing

Based on this slate, it seems like we’ll be seeing a lot more fresh faces in the DC Universe in the coming years. We’re especially excited about The Authority, as we’re always down to see a group of antiheroes saves the day. As for the upcoming Superman: Legacy release, we’re curious to see how it sets the tone for the rest of the Chapter 1 movies. Will it introduce a new, grittier Superman? Only time will tell.

In the meantime, we’ll be eagerly anticipating more news about The Authority and the rest of the upcoming DCU movies. Stay tuned for more updates, fellow DC fans!
