Marvel Making Its Own Justice League Movie (And it’s better than DCEU’s)

Marvel Making Its Own Justice League Movie

There were already rumors circulating that Marvel is trying its hands in rather unconventional projects that are in the works. Now those rumors have been almost confirmed as more and more concrete news of Marvel trying to make a Squadron Supreme movie come to light. The Justice League is DC’s greatest superhero team. While they are a big hit in the comic books, their movie counterpart did not fare so well. But Marvel has found a way to make their own Justice League movie based on a team of superheroes called the Squadron Supreme. And form the looks of it it’s going to be a way bigger blockbuster than WB Studios’ Justice League.

Marvel Making Its Own Justice League Movie

Before we begin, let us talk a little about this mysterious new Justice League counterpart that exists in the Marvel Comic book Universe. Marvel Comics introduced the Squadron Supreme as the Squadron Sinister in Avengers #69 in the year of 1969. They were supposed to be evil superhumans with the exact same powers and similar origin stories as the Justice League.

Movie Franchises Finish Their Trilogies

Hyperion, was born and raised on Earth-like Superman and is an alien superhero with pretty much the same powers as the Man of Steel. Nighthawk is the Marvel Comic incarnate of Batman. Power Princess hails from a planet of Women. The Whizzer is a copy of the Flash and Doctor Spectrum has the same powers as Green Lantern. They also have a superhero called Amphibian who can talk to sea creatures.

The Squadron Supreme was a way for Marvel Comics to make the best of both (Marvel and DC) worlds meet. Since back in the 1960s and 1970s, expecting a Marvel/DC Crossover was pretty much a distant dream, the Squadron Supreme was the closest thing we could get to an actual crossover. This is the same case now in the cinematic universe. The DCEU and the MCU are not going to meet in the theatres. That is a possibility best left forgotten. But if Marvel could use the Squadron Supreme to emulate the Justice league, since they own the rights to that team anyway, it could act as a possible way for Marvel Studios to make a potentially billion-dollar heavyweight at the International Box Office.

Marvel Making Its Own Justice League Movie

Long before more grounded and gritty superhero comic book series like The Authority and The Boys allowed the readers to anticipate more mature superheroes based on the Justice League in DC Comics, the Squadron Supreme had already transformed into a version the Justice league could only evolve into after decades. It would be hard to imagine how the Squadron Supreme might be made to debut in the MCU. Maybe Loki would have something to do with it. With alternate timeline elements being used as a concept in the Loki TV Series, the Squadron Supreme could be introduced as a superhero team from another universe. Or Maybe Doctor Strange 2: Multi-Verse of Madness would have something to do with it. We see a great many things happening in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the coming years.

Avengers: Infinity War Thanos

Who is to say that the Squadron Supreme does not end up becoming the new big bad wolf of the Marvel Cinematic Universe Post Thanos? We mean they have everything it takes to make it to the top as the primary antagonist. If Marvel Studios does pull this off, they might be able to make a Justice League movie and build a franchise around them way better than the DC Extended Universe ever could in their lifetime!!!

The Last Solo Marvel movie to be released under the Disney banner is Spider-Man: Far From Home. The movie was released on the 2nd of November, 2018. The official film synopsis for the movie reads:

Peter Parker’s relaxing European vacation takes an unexpected turn when Nick Fury shows up in his hotel room to recruit him for a mission. The world is in danger as four massive elemental creatures — each representing Earth, air, water and fire — emerge from a hole torn in the universe. Parker soon finds himself donning the Spider-Man suit to help Fury and fellow superhero Mysterio stop the evil entities from wreaking havoc across the continent.
