First Look at Keanu Reeves as Neo on the Set of ‘The Matrix 4’ Revealed

First Look at Keanu Reeves as Neo Set The Matrix 4:

Keanu Reeves set 2019 on fire and now he is gearing up to make 2021 his biggest year ever. The Matrix 4 and John Wick 4 are releasing on the same day, and there’s always a chance for Keanu Reeves to appear in one of the MCU films coming out in 2021 (if not that then 2022). His schedule from here on out is going to be jam packed as he is also supposed to appear in a Netflix superhero movie ‘Past Midnight’. Anyway, the tight scheduling has already begun as The Matrix 4 is currently shooting. Keanu Reeves was spotted on set. Take a look:

Original director Lana Wachowski is bringing in another story in the franchise and the set video more or less confirms the fact that the movie is set years after Matrix: Revolutions. There are a lot of questions regarding how the plot will unravel because it’s not just Keanu Reeves that’s returning as Neo, but Carrie Ann-Moss is also coming back as Trinity. She died in Revolutions, so we’d probably be seeing her through flashbacks. Also, the film is bringing in a young Morpheus, so that’s even more of a hint upon the film taking us in the early days of the Matrix’s creation.

It’s nice to see that Keanu Reeves will get to keep his long hair bearded persona for the Matrix and we’re not getting the same look that he had for Neo during the original trilogy. The Matrix is a film that revolutionized the use of special effects and practical action in Hollywood. It actually changed the game for the next two decades, and that’s why it is hailed as a classic. Not just the fighting, but we got an insane motorbike sequence in The Matrix: Reloaded and that has still not been topped by any film till date.

John Wick Chapter 4

For those who are not familiar with The Matrix should take a look at the following description:

“The box-office sensation follows the trials of a young computer programmer (Keanu Reeves) searching to determine the deepest reality of a post-Apocalyptic world. His journey uncovers a web of deceit and massive computer-generated illusions obscuring the truth. As the character Morpheus (Laurence Fishburne) said to Neo (Reeves), “No one can be told what The Matrix is. You have to see it for yourself.” The same is true for this mind-blowing movie. The film also stars Carrie-Anne Moss and was produced by Joel Silver.”

The Matrix franchise has been quite successful. The first film made $463 Million and that led for WB to launch two more sequels – Reloaded & Revolutions within the same year. The Matrix: Reloaded which managed to bring $742 Million worldwide and The Matrix: Revolutions which made $427 Million. In total, the franchise brought in $1.6 Billion over 3 films. Even though people did not like the final film in the trilogy, the franchise is still quite popular, and since Keanu’s career is at an all-time high, we can expect the 4th film to power through the Box Office big time.

Matrix 4 Same Release Date as John Wick Chapter 4

What’s crazy is that WB has placed the release of The Matrix 4 on the same day as John Wick: Chapter 4. The weekend after May 21, 2021, could either make it or break it for both of these films led by Keanu Reeves. The fact that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is coming out just 2 weeks prior also doesn’t help the cause of these two movies. There’s going to be an insane competition, but we do hope that both John Wick 4 & The Matrix 4 will do good at the Box Office.

Matrix 4

Ultimately, all of it will depend upon the quality of storytelling in both the upcoming chapters for 2 different franchises. Neo may be “The One” but John Wick can certainly kill his chances to be the ultimate winner. The War against machines & the High table might continue in these two films but their scheduled release dates have put them at war against each other.
