Best Action Movies of 2019:
The Action movie genre has grown a lot over the years as the fans are not satisfied by mediocre action sequences anymore. People no longer like action movies with shaky cams or jump cuts, they need authentic action. This year only a few movies managed to pass this benchmark and gave something special to the adrenaline junkies.
#10: Triple Frontier
Packed with an amazing cast, Triple Frontier is a movie about five former Special Force Operatives, who plan a heist in South America. Soon things spiral out of control, and their spirit is pushed towards the breaking point. The movie starts out strongly but loses the plot halfway through. You’ll like the movie but will feel like something is missing.
#9: Triple Threat
The Fight choreography of Triple Threat is top-notch and the cast is amazing as well, but the writing dampens the movie to a large extent. The movie rides on action alone and it is brutal. The movie has a great ensemble of famous action stars and each one of them get their time to shine.
#8: Cold Pursuit
Cold Pursuit is not your typical Liam Neeson action movie. If you love the TV series “Fargo” then you’ll love this movie as well as then it is right up your alley. The humor is similar to the show as well which adds a lot to the dark and gritty nature of the movie. Cold pursuit is a genuine revenge movie that manages to stay realistic.
#7: Angel Has Fallen
Gerard Butler is back as Mike Banning and if you have enjoyed the previous movies, then you will like this one as well, as it is on a similar line. The action in the movie is good and you’ll be entertained but if you start to take a hard look at the script then you will discover some plot holes pretty easily.
#6: Avengement
Avengement is a movie about revenge that stars the awesome Scott Adkins. His movies are pure entertainment and full of action. The movie wastes no time getting down to the action and it focuses on the transformation of a regular guy into a kickass fighter who has nothing to lose and goes on a revenge path. The fight scenes are well choreographed and they are brutal.
#5: Polar
This movie is exactly what you expect it to be. Polar is an Over the top action movie, full of gory, bloody and ridiculous fight scenes, which only adds to the fun. Visually, Polar is a great movie and it stars our favorite Mads Mikkelsen, so you know you are in for a ride. The movie is a comic book adaptation, and you will not regret watching this movie.
#4: Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw
Even before watching the movie, you can easily tell what is going to happen in it, but it’s the ‘how’ that makes this movie really entertaining. Do not watch the movie for the plot, watch it for the amazing action. The chemistry between The Rock and Jason Statham is amazing and the movie is surprisingly funny.
#3: Alita: Battle Angel
This movie is a Godsend for anime lovers, as it proves that Hollywood can make good movies based on Anime. The action in the movie is amazing and all the characters in the movie are likable, especially the lead character Alita, played by Rosa Salazar. Written by the legendary James Cameron, the movie will not let you down.
#2: Avengers: Endgame
After the devastating events of Avengers Infinity War, where half of the lifeform was wiped out by Thanos, the heroes finally launch their counter-attack to avenge the fallen. If you love the Marvel Cinematic Universe, then you’ll love every single minute of this movie as the emotional connect alone would force you to love the movie. The climax of this movie was just something else.
#1: John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum
The entire John Wick franchise is a delight for the fans who love nothing but action. John Wick 3 will never let you rest and the best part about the movie is that the fight scenes look real. There are no shaky-cams and no jump cuts which makes the action perfect. If you are an action fanatic like us then you’ll be stunned after watching such a good action movie.
