The Batman is Claimed to Be Like a Sherlock Holmes Mystery Thriller

The Batman Will be Mystery Thriller:

We can expect Batman to be totally different from every other Batman movie we’ve ever seen. Obviously the characters are going to be repeated because there have been so many Batman reboots since the 90s, but the story is going to be fresh. Matt Reeves has been working on the story for almost 2 years, so it has got to be something great. We have to put our faith in the director and WB here. They are building a big murder mystery for The Batman.

In fact, Thomas Polito from Geeks Worldwide has tweeted a small update upon the upcoming movie featuring the Caped Crusader. He wrote:

“Small The Batman update: I hear the movie is gonna play out very much like a Sherlock Holmes story with Catwoman as Batman’s Irene Adler & Riddler as his Moriarty. Reeves is also building a world similar to the animated shows & comics where all the villains are already out there… Forgot to add Gordon is [Bruce Wayne’s] Watson.”

The Batman Will be Mystery Thriller

It is an understandable comparison. Catwoman obviously is an anti-hero. She isn’t good the entire time. But her alliance with Batman is what turns her into a hero. That’s what we could expect from this story. The Riddler is going to get an insane amount of importance. He might turn out to be the one pulling all the strings at the very end of the film. We can expect a story a bit like both of Robert Downey Jr.’s Sherlock Holmes movies, and the recent animated release of WB – Batman: Hush.

The Batman Will be Mystery Thriller

We recently got a plot leak that this story will rather be a murder mystery. Here’s what those details read:

“The Batman will explore a detective case — when people start dying in strange ways, Batman must go deep into the dark world of Gotham to find clues and solve the mystery/conspiracy connected to Gotham City’s history and criminals. In the film, all of Batman’s Rogues Gallery are already out there and active, similar to the comics and animated shows/movies. The film will have multiple villains, as they are all suspects.”

The Batman Will be Mystery Thriller

The first Sherlock Holmes movie was also a murder mystery so the comparison is totally on point. After all, Matt Reeves has vouched that this story will explore the detective side of Batman. It will establish Batman as the world’s greatest detective. It is going to be a gritty noir tale of the Dark Knight.

The Batman Will be Mystery Thriller

Here’s what Reeves had to say about his Noir-Batman themed story:

“It’s very much a point of view-driven, noir Batman tale. It’s told very squarely on his shoulders, and I hope it’s going to be a story that will be thrilling but also emotional. It’s more Batman in his detective mode than we’ve seen in the films. The comics have a history of that. He’s supposed to be the world’s greatest detective, and that’s not necessarily been a part of what the movies have been. I’d love this to be one where when we go on that journey of tracking down the criminals and trying to solve a crime, it’s going to allow his character to have an arc so that he can go through a transformation.”

So far, the cast of the film which has been announced is pretty strong. Apart from Robert Pattinson as Batman, Jeffery Wright is going to play Commissioner Gordon, Paul Dano will be the Riddler and Zoe Kravitz will be Catwoman. An entire rogues gallery is coming in the movie as it was confirmed by Matt Reeves:

“Warner Bros. has been incredibly supportive and given me a lot of time and shared the same passion that I do for this story. There will be a Rogues Gallery. The casting process will begin shortly. We’re starting to put together our battle plan. I’m doing another pass on the script and we’ll begin some long-lead stuff to start developing conceptual things.”

The Batman comes out on June 25, 2021.
