Mysterio Almost Got a Hulkbuster Costume in Spider-Man: Far From Home

Mysterio Got a Hulkbuster Costume:

The creatives behind Spider-Man: Far From Home were bursting with ideas for what they could have done in Spider-Man: Far From Home. There were so many alternate concepts for the film as initial plans involved Peter Parker taking a trip to Tonsberg Norway which is now known as New Asgard in the MCU. Then, there was another alternate concept for the ending where Falcon would show up as the new Captain America and ask for Peter’s help. When you talk about Mysterio, he almost sent Peter on a trip against giant spiders in one of his illusions.

Spider-Man: Far From Home Deleted Giant Scary Spiders

We could only wish that we got to see this giant spiders sequence in the movie. This entire sequence would’ve been creepy as hell. And, it would’ve been so ironic that Spider-Man is being showed to fear giant spiders. It’s almost poetic justice for the villains. There was a lot that was planned for Mysterio. We’re really happy that a comic accurate suit was brought to life. The royal look, the cape & the fishbowl were quite epic. But apparently, there were even designs for a Hulkbuster-esk suit that Mysterio could have got in the movie.

This new image was posted on Imgur and it gives us a look at the Spider-Buster Mysterio suit. Just imagine if Mysterio appeared with a look like this for the third act of the movie where he was supposed to be fighting the biggest Elemental monster. Then, Spider-Man ripping the drone sync from the inside would’ve made the giant Mysterio suit disappear and his lies would’ve been revealed publicly in a more efficient way.

Ultimately we didn’t get this suit and it’s kinda okay. Things would have seemed too similar to Iron Man if we did get this design in the final theatrical cut. Mysterio was a really cool villain, and he was the only one other than Thanos who was able to leave a hero in complete ruins. So, Quentin & his entire team should be given the credit that they truly deserve. They were able to publicly frame Spider-Man, and not just that, his secret identity was revealed to the entire world! Peter could have this situation solved quite easily bringing Talos in the picture, but we don’t think that’s going to be the case.

Nevertheless, we do hope that Mysterio will return in Spider-Man 3. He has to be alive & be a part of the Sinister Six that Marvel is building for Spider-Man 4. Spider-Man: Far From Home writer Erik Sommers and Chris McKenna spoke with Variety about Gyllenhaal’s input and the changes he brought to Mysertio as a character. They said:

“Sommers – Jake just really liked the idea that he was manipulating everyone’s love of superheroes and that need for heroes. He also wanted to make sure that the front half of his character played as realistically as possible. We all wanted everyone to believe that what we were seeing is what we were getting. We really wanted to make everything as specific as possible so it really did seem like this was a man out of time and out of place coping with a really insane situation that he tragically had gone through.

McKenna – He had a beard! He wanted a beard. He was right. It was one of those things. He knows as an actor what plays and what doesn’t. What we really wanted was someone to really be an alluring, father-figure replacement for Tony [Stark]. Jake knew how to do that, from his performance all the way down to his hair. If you look at him, you think, ‘Oh! I want that guy to be my new dad.'”

Spider-Man: Far From Home Theory Mysterio

We’ll have to wait and see whether Mysterio gets to return by the end of Spider-Man 3, or will he only be back for Spider-Man 4 when Norman Osborn (probably) forms the Sinister Six. Spider-Man 3 has been scheduled for a release on July 16, 2021.
