Avengers: Endgame Brought Back HYDRA’s Arnim Zola & We Didn’t Notice

Avengers: Endgame Brought Back HYDRA’s Arnim Zola:

People seem to have found over Avengers: Endgame 500 Easter Eggs, callbacks and references in Avengers: Endgame. Yet there’s a new one that people keep spotting every other day. Since this was a finale event, almost every other dialogue or a scene felt like a reference or a pay-off to something that has either happened in the comics or the MCU itself. And then there were some that also set up the future of the MCU.

Endgame used time travel to literally go back in time and tie in with almost all MCU films. There were tie-ins to Infinity War (Vormir), Guardians of the Galaxy (Morag), Thor: The Dark World & The Avengers. Age of Ultron was referenced through dialogues in the first act. Then there were certain callbacks to Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Firstly, we saw Cap donning his stealth suit from that film in the very beginning. Then during the Time Heist segment of “The Avengers” we saw a replica of the lift fight sequence where all the Hydra Agents surround Captain America just like they did in The Winter Soldier.

This time instead of kicking their asses and blowing his cover, Cap did something that was a reference to the recent comic book storyline. He pretended to be in on Hydra’s plans saying “Hail Hydra.” This was probably one of the best Easter Eggs in the entire film. But this wasn’t the last callback to The Winter Soldier and Hydra as there was one that we all would have surely missed. Endgame used Captain America & Iron Man’s trip to the 70s to provide all the closure to both of them. Tony met his father and Steve got to see Peggy one more time.

But there were further Easter Eggs hidden in plain sight. Obviously, we got to see Hank Pym, his original Ant-Man & design. Then there was the whole Captain Britain piece which came along with Peggy. But what we missed was the one where Hydra’s very own Arnim Zola was brought back into the picture.

In Captain America: The Winter Soldier came the twist of Arnim Zola’s consciousness being alive. Apparently Zola even after being recruited by SHIELD still had his Hydra ideals and beliefs intact. He corrupted the entire organization and designed an algorithm to perfect the world. To make sure that Hydra stays alive and grows bigger, he transfers his consciousness into SHIELD’s computer servers before dying.

Right when Tony Stark is looking for the Tesseract, way back in the compound we see a TV screen playing a certain green colored footage. Since this is the 1970s, we know that Zola already transferred his consciousness, and that’s probably what’s hidden during this segment! Now, that’s a pretty sneaky way to mention this classic villain.

Loki TV Series Disney+ Marvel

The story of Captain America so far has included politics and beliefs really well. The Falcon & The Winter Soldier will further the story of Captain America while telling us who Sam & Bucky actually are. So, it’d be quite interesting to see what this show brings to the table. People are really excited for WandaVision and Loki since those shows are going to play with the Multiverse, but The Falcon & The Winter Soldier could be equally exciting as the conflict with the Government would most definitely return.

The show is probably going to arrive next year in August. Here’s what Sebastian Stan had to say about the upcoming series:

“I think it’s time for Bucky to go out there and have an identity outside of the circumstances that we’ve met him through. So, I don’t know, he might do all kinds of things. He might even go on a date. I don’t know. Scary world out there, you know? Apps, things like that. I don’t know what he’s gonna do. I can’t see him on an iPhone…I think it’s gonna be a lot of dealing with Anthony’s character and Anthony himself which is always another character.

Let’s see if Zola’s algorithm could still return.
