Fantastic Four Origin and Villain Have Reportedly Been Revealed

The Fantastic Four movie was finally announced at SDCC. We didn’t get any details upon when the film is coming but Kevin Feige did give us a confirmation that the movie is under development and will hit the theatres for sure. That’s exactly what we’ve all been waiting for, i.e. for Marvel to make a Fantastic Four set within the MCU. The origin of the Fantastic Four could be very different this time and that’s what we’re counting on.

Logically, 2023 would be the perfect year for Marvel to launch this film as by then they could certainly release all of their other sequels and another Avengers movie would also be around the corner. It is obvious that Marvel will release the Fantastic Four movie before X-Men as it may take a lot of time to introduce mutants all over the world out of a sudden within the MCU. But, the Fantastic Four can actually be brought in with the next MCU film.

It’s because the director of Ant-Man and the Wasp, Peyton Reed already has a script for the Fantastic Four ready ever since forever. Back in the days when Fox used to own X-Men and Fantastic Four, and Peyton Reed wasn’t even directing Ant-Man, he wrote a script for the Fantastic Four. Fox didn’t want to make his version of the film, and hence that script has been lying in a locker room ever since. But now Disney has bought Fox and it has been rumored that Peyton Reed as already pitched his idea to Kevin Feige.

After Ant-Man and the Wasp came out, director Reed said that we have to look closely into the Quantum Realm scenes to know about the future of the MCU. And we found an entire city within the Quantum Realm upon looking closely. So, coming from Cosmic Book News is a report which suggests that the members of the Fantastic Four will be established as being around in the 1960s, and they will be stuck in the Quantum Realm ever since then.

The city that we see within the Quantum Realm could have been made by the likes of Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm and Ben Grimm. Just as we saw Janet Van Dyne emerge from the Quantum Realm with certain abilities, the same reason could be applied to how the Fantastic Four could have gotten their powers as well.

But the Cosmic Book News writes further that all four of them could have been stuck in the Negative Zone for decades, and that’s why they could emerge totally unaged in the present times. Janet Van Dyne did age within the Quantum Realm as we saw an older version of her when she came back to the real world. But as we saw, that she knew a whole lot more about the Quantum Realm and even had changed her whole attire. We’ve been asking from where exactly did she get all those clothes, and things of other basic survival needs. Well, she could have met the Fantastic Four in there, and they could have helped her out.

As far as the villain of the first film is concerned, we know that it won’t be Doctor Doom. No, Marvel wouldn’t make the mistake of making Doctor Doom a villain of the first Fantastic Four film itself. This time he will surely get a separate origin, and will be turned into a much bigger villain just like Thanos and Loki were. Doctor Doom is the greatest villain in the Marvel comics, and that’s how Marvel would totally pursue him. He could be introduced in a Fantastic Four sequel or some other film, but we can surely expect him to be a big villain of the Avengers or whatever team Marvel brings in.

As suggested above, the Negative Zone is probably what kept the Fantastic Four alive for decades, and it is what prevented them from aging. Now, the Negative Zone is something that could also introduce us to the villain of the Fantastic Four. Annihilus was believed to have a major presence in Avengers: Endgame, back when the rumor was spread that the title of Avengers 4 is Annihilation. But that didn’t turn out to be true. Still, it doesn’t mean that Annihilus couldn’t be a villain of any other MCU film. With his closeness to the Negative Zone, he could surely be the villain of the upcoming Fantastic Four movie.

Since Peyton Reed is keen to direct the Fantastic Four movie, and his version of the team comes from the Quantum Realm, it only makes sense for them to be introduced in Ant-Man and the Wasp 3. Spider-Man 3 will most likely be announced by Sony for July 2021. And, Marvel and Disney have a release date scheduled for July 2022. So that’s probably where Ant-Man and the Wasp 3 will fit in since Spider-Man 3 won’t be stealing that date.

Ant-Man and the Wasp 3 would most definitely be taking us back to the Quantum Realm. Janet Van Dyne could take us back to that city we found in there, and hence the Fantastic Four could also be in there. That’s where their origin happens and they get a limited presence, or perhaps a little cameo in the film. It could be followed by Marvel’s first Fantastic Four movie, which comes out the following year, i.e. 2023. This could be an amazing way to introduce them!

Let’s see what happens. Before Comic-Con, Kevin Feige did confirm that it’ll be a while before the Fantastic Four or even the X-Men will get their films. He told iO9:

“It’ll be a while. It’s all just beginning and the five-year plan that we’ve been working on, we were working on before any of that was set. So really it’s much more, for us, less about specifics of when and where [the X-Men & Fantastic Four will appear] right now and more just the comfort factor and how nice it is that they’re home. That they’re all back. But it will be a very long time.”
