Avengers: Endgame May Have Revealed Tony Stark is Actually Adopted

Avengers: Endgame had literally every Marvel Superhero that was brought into the Big Screens under the Marvel Cinematic Universe Banner. Black Panther, Doctor Strange, Spider-Man, the Guardians of the Galaxy – all the heroes who died in the Infinity War movie made a triumphant return in Endgame. Not only that but the heroes who survived the Decimation event also found their true calling in the sequel to the Infinity War movie. But in more ways than one, Avengers: Endgame was less about being an Avengers movie and more of the last rodeo for our favourite Avenger Tony Stark aka the Iron Man. And the movie may have just revealed a vital piece of information regarding the armoured avenger confirming a fan theory that has been making the rounds on the internet for quite some time now. Presenting – Avengers: Endgame may have revealed Tony Stark is actually adopted!!!

Avengers: Endgame Tony Stark

Iron Man makes the ultimate sacrifice when he wields all the six Infinity Stones and uses them in his Bleeding Edge Infinity Gauntlet to snap reality back to the way it was. The act costs him his life but at least everyone else is safe. The movie is like a life journey for Tony Stark. The beginning of the film shows us that Tony Stark now has a daughter – Morgan Stark. The film also shows us Tony travelling back in time to meet his estranged father Howard Stark, with whom he has a heartfelt conversation. The emotional roller coaster leaves Tony Stark on a high note. He understands the true meaning of family and how important it is (Something Yinsen tried to make him understand with his dying breaths in Iron Man of 2008).

To save his family and friends, Tony says “I am Iron Man” and defeats Thanos using the Infinity Stones – the very weapon that the Mad Titan intended to use to bring balance back to the Universe.

Avengers: Endgame Tony Stark

When Tony travels back to the 1970s, he meets a younger version of Howard Stark played by John Slattery. After striking a conversation with his father, Tony realizes that Howard is nervous, as him and his wife are expecting their first child. The exchange leads to a conversation where Tony and Howard talk about how the “greatest creations” always come from a family. That is when Tony asks him when is Howard’s wife due. Since Tony knows his own birthday, why would he ask Howard Stark about when will his wife go into labour? That does not make any sense.

That does make sense if you factor in the comic book angle. In the comics, the first born child of Howard Maria Stark was Arno Stark, who soon did. Tony Stark is not actually a Stark. He is the adopted son of Howard and Maria Stark in the comic books. Since Tony actually asked when Maria is due to Howard? He may be inquiring about Arno, the true heir to the Stark Empire. This would mean that Tony knew he was adopted. That forever changes how we have been viewing the Iron Man character arc in MCU.
