The end times are upon us. As we draw closer to April 27, 2018, the hype is only increasing for the next Marvel Cinematic Universe’s addition to the Avenger’s franchise.
The movie will be the greatest comic book ensemble the world has ever seen, it will create history as never before anything of this scale and magnitude been attempted by any studio. It will mark the culmination of everything that has happened till now in the MCU across different phases.
The Russos were asked about the plot of the movie and they described ‘Avengers Infinity War’ as the heist movie. Here is what they said:
“With “Infinity War,” the biggest new element to the movie is Thanos and the fact that he’s entering the storytelling in a very bold, strong way, to the degree that he’s almost one of the leads. We’ve shaped an interesting narrative around him that in some ways leans heavily on a heist film in the fact that he’s going after the infinity stones in a much bolder, successful way than he has in the past. The entire movie has that energy of the bad guy being one step ahead of the heroes. We looked at a lot of movies that had that heist-style energy to them, and that brought some inspiration”.
We have seen two official trailers and a TV spot till now and pundits believe that if this massive hype really translates into footfalls into the cinema halls, we are looking at not just the highest grossing comic book movie but of all times, right now that coveted honor belongs to Cameron’s Avatar.
If there is one thing that everyone agrees upon is that Thanos is really terrifying. He is truly the most menacing cosmic supervillain that Avengers will face and they won’t even realize what hit them until its too late. For the first time, he will be seen in action as lands on Earth along with his Black Order in the quest to collect all the six Infinity stones namely Power, Space, Mind, Time, Reality, and Soul.
He wants to become the most powerful cosmic creature and for that, he needs access to six singularities that controls fundamental forces of existence. The only one standing between him and total destruction are Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy.
Will they be able to fight the forces of Mad Titan and stop his march to become the ultimate ruler of cosmos? Only time will tell. But before we find that out, Marvel has amped up the pre-release marketing campaign by releasing a new trailer and a final poster for the movie just a couple of days ago. The studio executives are shrewd in their approach as they chose to time the release of the trailer and the poster alongside the opening of pre-sales tickets for Avengers: Infinity War.
The tickets went live on Fandango just as the trailer and the poster came out. Avengers Infinity war only took mere six hours to break the record of the most sold tickets for a superhero movie in 24 hours on Fandango. The stats and the survey on the site are reproduced here for your scrutiny.
Advance tickets for “Infinity War” went on sale on Fandango at 6 p.m. IST By midnight IST, it surpassed the two previous top two record holders: “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” and “Black Panther.”
Fandango also said its survey of over 1,000 “Infinity War” ticket buyers showed 97% “can’t wait” to see how heroes work together in the same film; 94% are excited to see different franchise characters (“Guardians,” “Avengers,” etc.) meeting one another for the first time; 92% see “Infinity War” as the culmination of all of the Marvel Cinema Universe films before it; 87% have seen all of the MCU movies; 71% saw “Black Panther” on the big screen; and 60% claim “Black Panther” made them more excited to see “Avengers: Infinity War.”
The movie is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, who helmed “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” and “Captain America: Civil War.”
The cast is unbelievably amazing as there are some of the top names of the industry including Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Anthony Mackie (Falcon), Sebastian Stan (Winter soldier), Chris Pratt (Starlord), Vin Diesel (Groot), Bradley Cooper (Rocket Raccoon), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Jeremy Reiner (Hawkeye), Benedict Wong (Wong), Benedict Cumberbatch (Dr. Strange), Tom Holland (Spiderman), Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Evangeline Lilly (Wasp), Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlett Witch), Paul Bettany (Vision), Josh Brolin (Thanos).
Atom Tickets also reported results of a survey of more than 2,000 ticket buyers and found that male patrons were most excited to see the following characters: Mad Titan Thanos (26%); Iron Spider (17%) and T’Challa & Shuri (11%). Female respondents are most excited to see T’Challa & Shuri (28%); Peter Quill (15%); and Tony Stark (14%).
When asked about what superhero movie fans are most excited to see next, “Deadpool 2” led the way with 41%, followed by “Avengers Part 4 with 19% and “Ant-Man and The Wasp” with 10%.
The movie site also mentioned that Avengers Infinity War sold more tickets in the first 24 hours of pre-sales than Black Panther did in the first month. This is groundbreaking and just goes to show how anticipated the movie really is.
As a fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it is our duty to inform the fans that this movie that is breaking all the record is the culmination of over a decade of movie-making and other related media. This movie will arguably bring all the heroes of the MCU together in about to defend the Infinity stones from the mad Titan.
As futile as that effort really is, it will still be an effort they will undertake and fans will pay happily to watch that effort in theatres. Avengers Infinity war has more to do with the reality first facing a threat greater than your own. It’s not a fight the Earth’s mightiest heroes can win easily. Marvel fans know this and that is the reason they rush in, in such huge numbers to grasp an opportunity to view the culmination of Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Avengers Infinity war opens April 27, 2018. It is directed by Anthony & Joe Russo aka Russo brothers and produced by Marvel top executive Kevin Feige along with a set of executive producers including God of Marvel comics Stan Lee, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Michael Grillo etc. The screenplay has been written by a talented duo – Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.
