Here’s How Avengers Endgame Sets Up the Marvel Phase 4

Avengers: Endgame officially completed The Infinity Saga, or I should say the Iron Man saga! It brings together almost all of the MCU movies and it also brings in a group of remarkable people to give us the most epic grand finale in the history of finales. There’s nothing that can top this ever, and we just have to say, what an ENDING! We were left in a complete state of Nirvana.

Avengers: Endgame

This article contains major spoilers so stay away if you’ve not seen the film.

The ending of the film was way too emotional for us MCU fans. It had to happen this way so the end could have felt complete. Tony Stark gave the Universe a second chance to lead their stories forward. And hence we got so many Phase 4 setups. Here’s how this movie and perhaps infinity war as well sets up the future of the MCU:

Clint Barton

Post Tony’ death came the set up for Phase 4 which is going to be divided into movies and Disney+ TV Shows. Hawkeye is with his family, but perhaps he will continue to train his daughter as she may become the Kate Bishop of the MCU in the upcoming Hawkeye series.

Asgardians of the Galaxy

Thor crowns Valkyrie as the ruler of the new Asgard, and bids farewell to leave with Rocket and the Asgardians of the Galaxy. This will be the plot that will be furthered in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, as James Gunn will now get to work with the God of Thunder being a professional Guardian. The plot could take us to the Adam Warlock, or Rocket’s creator, or perhaps on a quest to search for the younger version of Gamora.

Spider-Man: Far From Home

Spider-Man: Far From Home

Peter goes back to school, and he meets Ned. We don’t get the explanation as to how he is still in school even 5 years later in time, but Spider-Man: Far From Home will surely explain that to us. We will see Peter lead his life without a Tony Stark as he meets a new mentor in the name of Nick Fury.

The Dance

Steve Rogers is sent back to the past by Hulk, Sam, and Bucky, in order to put all the Infinity Stones back from where they were taken so the elements of the timeline screwed up by the Avengers are restored. He also brings back Mjolnir to where Thor took it from. But he didn’t stop at that.

With Time travel at his disposal, he takes Tony’s suggestion, goes to Peggy and fulfills his promise. They finish their dance and Steve stays back in the past only to live a complete & supposedly peaceful life. In the present, we see an older version of Steve who is at peace, and he passes on his mantle to Sam, who will now be the next Captain America.

Falcon & Winter Soldier

Avengers: Infinity War Theory Thanos

Honestly, there’s a whole new movie that can be made upon Captain America living his life in the past, but what this scene did for us was lead us into the show, Falcon and Winter Soldier. This will be the first series hitting Disney+ and with this show, we will follow Falcon aka the new Captain America along with the Winter Soldier into their own new adventures. This show should really decide who is really worthy of the shield. We could also see War Machine make an appearance since he survived Phase 3.

Black Widow

Now we know for sure that Black Widow’s chronological future in the MCU is now gonna be over. Hulk’s snap couldn’t bring her back as she died in the same way as Gamora did, i.e. in exchange for the Soul Stone. So she isn’t coming back for the female team up movie, but her major sacrifice is going to pull in a huge crowd for her prequel story coming up next year.

A Force

Tessa Thompson, Brie Larson and Evangeline Lilly have spoken that they’ve put in an idea of the female team up movie in the future. Well, we already get a tease of that here, as every female super teamed up to help Captain Marvel take the Infinity Gauntlet to Lang’s van. Black Widow was missing as she was permanently dead to be there. But never mind, with Valkyrie now being the Queen of New Asgard, and Captain Marvel set to return, we could perhaps see an A-Force movie in the future.

Young Avengers

Harley Keener (the kid from Iron Man 3) returned at Tony’s funeral and now he’s a grownup teen. Cassie Lang is older and ready to take her comic book story arc. Hawkeye is going to train a version of Kate Bishop. The MCU is expanding in multiple ways and we have already got a set up for a Young Avengers movie/TV Series. More members can be added in the future.

WandaVision

It is confirmed that Scarlet Witch will return by the very next year in her own TV series on Disney+. She won’t be alone as Vision is going to join her. Vis missed the final battle as Shuri was also disintegrated, so she couldn’t fix the Android.

But we saw her download his consciousness and programming in Infinity War, so that was the set up for the upcoming TV show. Vision is supposedly going to get a Wakandan upgrade and that is why, WandaVision could also feature a great element of Wakanda.

Loki

The Avengers did create a whole lot of crazy possibilities by going back to the past, and even Cap going back to put all the stones back might not have solved one problem. Loki might be dead in the present, but he took the Tesseract with him as Stark and Scott caused a distraction during the very end of Avengers 1. So he escaped and this could lead us into his own solo TV show where he causes various events upon Midguard that no one really knew about.

Other Sequels

There was no particular scene dedicated to Stephen Strange, Carol Danvers, T’Challa, Langs and Pyms, except for the celebration montage. But we know that all of them would get their own movies. Doctor Strange 2 could continue with the repercussions of his repeated use of the Time Stone. Black Panther 2 could continue with the aftermath of opening Wakanda to the entire world.

Captain Marvel Easter Eggs

Captain Marvel 2 has a whole lot to show us from the time gap between the first movie and Avengers: Endgame, and the sequel could also tell us where she was during the middle part of the Endgame or perhaps continue with the future itself. Ant-Man and the Wasp still has to finish the trilogy, and we could see Cassie Lang’s transition into a full time hero.

Avengers: Endgame marked the true ending of The Infinity Saga, but also set up a new beginning! Captain America’s new future conundrum has to be solved and that is why we feel that Chris Evans is not yet done with the MCU. So let’s see what happens.

Here’s the new synopsis of Avengers: Endgame:

“Thanos snapped his fingers in Avengers: Infinity War, and half the life in the universe instantly dissolved. Now a ragged group of surviving warriors, including Captain America, Black Widow, Iron Man, Thor, and the Hulk works to counteract the Mad Titan’s genocidal action.

Since our heroes couldn’t stop Thanos the first time, what makes them think they can win in a rematch? The answer may be in overwhelming power, thanks to Captain Marvel, or in the tiniest spaces between atoms accessible to Ant-Man. Avengers: Endgame will rewrite the Marvel Cinematic Universe as we know it. When it’s all over, nothing will be the same.”
