The last week was very big for the marketing of Avengers: Endgame as we got many new posters, promos, and featurettes released officially by Marvel. Things have been pretty quiet for the last 2-3 days but now we’ve got something, as Marvel has released the official Avengers: Endgame IMAX Trailer 2. The reason we watch these films in IMAX is because it offers the greatest movie-going experience. So here, have the greatest experience of viewing the trailer:

These films are made specially to be viewed in IMAX, as that is how people can actually appreciate it to the fullest. Before we got this trailer, Marvel even released a featurette marketing the IMAX version of the film. Take a look at that if you haven’t:
What’s great about Avengers: Endgame is that it is 182 minutes long. So if you watch it in IMAX, then you’d be in for a long ride. Studios usually do not prefer keeping 3 hour long films because they won’t be able to play the film as much as they would, if it was 2 hours long. But the Russos have stressed upon keeping this film as long as it is, and Disney is happy with the cut they have.
Here’s what Joe Russo said about the run time:
“We’re still looking at a similar time [approximately three hours]. This one’s been very specific in its run time. It really hasn’t changed since we executed the first cut of the film. Even though we’ve shot a lot of footage between now and then, we’ve swapped things out and the water keeps rising to the same level because the story’s so dense. We have so many characters that we’re working with again that require that kind of run time.
My brother [Anthony Russo] and I are really committed to emotional stakes, and emotion requires story real estate. When you have a sprawling plot with a lot of characters and emotional stakes, it requires time to breathe emotionally. On the scale, you’re just going to wind up at a certain run time. We’ve been really hard on the film. We don’t like excessive run times; it’s just very difficult wrapping up 10 years of storytelling.”
Justice League and Batman V Superman were both supposed to be 3 hours long. WB’s editing team senselessly cut 25 minutes out of the film, and the film really suffered as a result of that. Joss Whedon was brought in to make a 3 hour long movie into 2 hours.
Justice League turned out to be the lowest grossing DCEU movie. So, we’ve seen clear evidence of how films suffer when they don’t get the breathing room that they require. That is why we should be happy that Endgame is getting what it deserves.
