Marvel finally released the second trailer for Avengers: Endgame on March 14, 2019. It seems that the studio was waiting for the hype to die down from Captain Marvel to die down before riling up the fandom for Endgame. Well, it worked, the trailer gave us chills and gave us a look at the assembled Avengers but it did not reveal much in terms of story. For one thing Thanos was completely missing from the trailer. In the spirit of hype for Endgame here are 15 things you missed in the new Endgame trailer.
15. Kate Bishop in the MCU
There is one small scene in the trailer where we see Hawkeye aka Clint Barton training his young daughter in the art of archery. Moreover, it seems that the young lass is pretty good at this, maybe she inherited the skill of her father. Now it is obvious that this scene is filmed before the snap and will go a long way to substantiate the loss that Hawkeye suffers but it also represents the possibility of Kate Bishop showing up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Kate Bishop is Hawkeye’s daughter in the comics who took up her father’s mantle when Hawkeye went missing during the year 2005.
14. Quantum Realm Suits
Near the end of the trailer we see the Avengers assemble along with Nebula ready to go to war and do ‘whatever it takes’. It seems that the determination of Avengers will only be rivaled by the might of infinity gauntlet powered Thanos. But what’s curious are the suits worn by Avengers in this scene. It is a white armor with the Avengers logo and some black and red highlights. Now it has been largely speculated that these are the suits that will be used to travel through the Quantum Realm. Whether this is true or whether these suits will be used for some other reason we will only get to know when the movie comes out.
13. Black Widow Hairstyles
All through the Marvel Cinematic Universe we have seen Black Widow take part in multiple subplots and movies. She is an integral part of the Marvel universe and she seems to always change her look in every new appearance she makes. Most notably she seems to change her hair every time. And if you look at the new trailer carefully you’ll realize that Black Widow showcases not on but 3 different hairstyles, for what reason? It may only he revealed after the movie comes out.
Anytime seems to have been lost in the quantum realm after the events of Infinity War and Ant-Man and the Wasp, it seems that we get a look at the exact moment where he come out of that cage. It seems that Scott Lang has just landed in a post Infinity War MCU is beginning to realize the horror that befell the universe. He seems to be looking at the missing poster in the trailer and trying to piece together exactly what went wrong, dealing with his personal loss, at the same time.
11. Hawkeye’s Family is Gone
Ever since the events of Infinity War and Hawkeye’s absence from it, it has been largely speculated that Hawkeye lost his family to the snap and it is this loss that transforms him into Ronin. Now after the second trailer we can confirm that there will be a sub plot in Endgame involving Hawkeye’s family.
10. Time Gap
Avengers: Infinity War ended on a very sad note. The death of all the heroes hit us very hard and left a lasting scar on the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The new trailer, however, has a very specific tone to it. Most notably Captain America talks about how he has been asking everyone to move on. We also see Ant-Man emerge into the world and look astonished. Not to mention Black Widow’s long red hair while conversing with the Captain. It seems that a substantial amount of time had passed between the end of Infinity War and the story of Endgame.
9. Ant-Man Escapes Fire and Carnage
There is a short snippet in the movie where we see Scott Lang leap onto a pencil and out of fire and carnage. Although it is not clear from where exactly Scott Lang is escaping it still seems that this is a crucial moment in the movie. Our thinking is that Ant-Man is escaping the burning lab/van where he is left at the end of Ant-Man and the Wasp.
The trailer features callback to over a decade of movie making in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We see the origin of all the original Avengers and we also get a lot of monologues over these callbacks. Some of these voice overs are just old dialogues from already released movies but some of them (most notably Black Widow and Iron Man) are dialogues from Avengers: Endgame itself and in these monologues these characters reveal just how desperate the Avengers are and how deep their resolve is.
7. Warships in New York
In a short snippet we get to witness the aftermath of the snap and how the human civilization reacted to it. We get to see how the Ships have assembled in an around statue of liberty. Maybe this is symbolic in nature or maybe this is the world retrenching itself because of the snap itself. But it is largely apparent that everyone has been thrown into a panic after the genocide committed by the Mad Titan.
6. Captain America Has Taken Over The Avengers
After the events of Winter Soldier, Avengers had effectively broken up and the people still residing in the Avengers compound are but half of all the heroes of the original roster. The excommunication of Captain America hit the fans hard but it seems , after the trailer, that Captain is back into the Avengers compound and now leading the remnants of the Earth’s mightiest heroes in a bout to help the human civilization in coming together after a disaster.
5. Captain Marvel Joins The Fray Immediately
At the end of trailer, we get to witness Thor take a gander at Captain Marvel and we see him trying to assess her mettle. This entire sequence is marked by Widow’s short blonde hair and it is this hair that proves that Captain Marvel makes it back to earth after a short while after the snap.
4. Multiple timelines
The Avengers: Endgame trailer goes through several different tones and callbacks. It references over a decade of movie making and moreover goes through three separate hairstyles of Black Widow. Although it may not be as pertinent but it seems that the story of Endgame is spanning over several different timelines. This is because we get to see Captain lead the remnants Avengers and recruit them for battle. There seems to be death of the Avengers (like Iron Man being lost in space) and yet his sudden inclusion in the final battle. It will make a lot of sense if there not one but multiple timelines involved here.
3. Avengers are on a War path
The entirety of the trailer is built like a call to action. It’s like the entire roster of the Avengers is fighting their final fight. We are ready for the fight of our lives and this is why the second trailer reflects. WHATEVER IT TAKES.
2. Classic Captain America Costume
The trailer highlights all of the heroes in their own way but there is a specific moment that will have the fans on the ropes until the movie is finally released. This moment is when we see captain America, with all of his battle damage; gear up his shield to make a final push. The most interesting thing to notice about this scene is that the captain is wearing his classic costume that seemed to be missing in Avengers: Infinity War.
1. Recruitment of Ronin
It is already apparent to the fans that Ronin will be an important part of the Avengers: Endgame central plot. It seems that the recruitment of Ronin is going to be a lengthy process. The recruitment will most likely involve both Black Widow and Captain America and will take a lot of time to bring the character back into the fold of Avengers.
