Marvel’s New TV Show is Bringing in an X-Men Character, But How?

Marvel TV Show X-Men:

While Marvel is surely making it big on the big screen, their small screen shows have gone down since 4 of their big properties on Netflix were canceled last year, and 2 are also on the verge of it. Agents of SHIELD is taking its time to return and only 2 other shows currently survive, i.e. Cloak and Dagger, and Hulu’s Runaways. The TV side is supposedly going to get bigger with the launch of Disney’s streaming service – Disney+, but there’s still time in that as well.

Meanwhile, Marvel has taken a great and unique step forward as they have partnered with Hulu for 4 new animated shows for the Network along with a major crossover show that brings all four of those together. Now, these 4 include – Howard The Duck, M.O.D.O.K., Hit Monkey, The Tigra & Dazzler Show, and they are going to crossover under the show titled as The Offenders.

Now, this is much like what Netflix did with the Defenders as they produced solo TV series for Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Luke Cage, and then brought them together in The Defenders.

It would be interesting to see Marvel’s take on these five unique characters as none of them have ever been tried anywhere, except for the fact that Howard the Duck got two cameos in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise. As of now, we don’t know whether these shows are a part of the MCU or an independent continuity, but we can expect a few mentions here and there since there are characters like Tigra, who has been associated with the Avengers in the past.

Talking about Tigra brings us to one very interesting matter about the show, i.e. it brings in an X-Men character for Marvel to handle. The Tigra & Dazzler Show will portray the two lead characters as “two woke superheroes and best friends” living in Los Angeles and fighting to be recognized as Supers in the Superhero community.

As mentioned above, Tigra has been an Avenger in the past, so she could reference The Earth’s Mightiest heroes here and there. If that’s going to happen then this Universe will probably not be canon to Marvel Cinematic Universe and be in a separate continuity altogether.

But the real conversation comes when you talk about Dazzler aka Alison Blaire who actually is a key member of the X-Men who rose to fame in the 1980s. The roots of her powers are in Disco Music (which was in during the 70s) and her abilities allow her to convert sound vibrations into the light. The reason why we are talking about this is that Dazzler being a part of the X-Men is still a Fox character, and last we checked, the deal between Disney and Fox was not yet complete.

Marvel TV Show X-Men

So far, the only thing that Fox and Disney have worked out is that the Avengers have used the Maximoff twins who are actually mutants but portrayed differently in the MCU, and Fox took Teenage Negasonic Warhead (Deadpool 2) in exchange for Kurt Russell’s Ego the Living Planet (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2). Apart from that, the Disney Fox characters have not mingled anywhere, so how is Marvel able to use Dazzler as the main character for their show?

Marvel TV Show X-Men

Perhaps the answer could lie in the fact that this could be a special deal since Fox also has a stake in Hulu. By the time the show comes out, the deal would already be complete so things won’t matter. But it begs us to ask the question that is it the first of Marvel and Fox collaboration that we are going to see?

Marvel TV Show X-Men

Since the show is currently under development, Marvel cannot actively acknowledge all the X-Men references, but there must be an agreement that allows Marvel to actually call Dazzler a Mutant. Things are going to be kept as simple as possible, and that is what we can expect.

Hopefully, the Disney Fox deal comes to a close as soon as possible. Disney hopes to finish it by June.
