Captain Marvel is rightfully called the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s greatest superhero. She can fly at superhuman speeds, shoot blindingly powerful energy beams and absorb huge amounts of it as well. She is also extremely strong and fast. With Thanos creeping up behind the corner, Captain Marvel is our greatest bet to make the Purple Megalomaniac bend to his knees. But if you think Captain Marvel is all-powerful and invincible, you are dead wrong. Presenting – 11 Marvel Characters who would wipe the floor with Captain Marvel!!
The king of the Fire Giants is the ruler of Muspelheim, one of the nine realms of Asgard. Surtur made his first live action appearance in Thor: Ragnarok but he has been a part of the comic books since a long time. Surtur’s powers were dragged down to make the movie more interesting.
In the comics, Surtur was a God. He could singlehandedly defeat Thor and had one of the greatest weapons known to the universe – the Twilight Sword. Even with his power levels degraded, Surtur still managed to level Asgard. Captain Marvel should be wary of the demon king who is destined to bring down Ragnarok in Norse Mythology.
The next entry on this list must not come as a surprise. The All-Father is the one that started it all. As the original ruler of Asgard, Odin has vast levels of power at his disposal. He is one of Marvel Universe’s greatest practitioners of magic. He also has the power of omniscience, meaning he can know everything. Odin also has the Odin-Force as a weapon. It allows the one-eyed King to command a degree of strength that even Gods could only dream of.
Ego the Living Planet once used to be an ordinary scientist until his sentience merged with that of a planet. Ego used to be a Celestial, one of the first beings to inhabit the universe. As such, he was already imbued with the Power Cosmic. When he merged with the planet, Ego’s powers only doubled. Captain Marvel may be strong but she is not as strong as a Celestial. The only reason Ego was defeated in GOTG Vol. 2 was because his son Peter Quill aka Star-Lord betrayed him.
8. Thanos wearing the Infinity Gauntlet
Thanos may be strong but he is not as strong as Carol Danvers. So how could Thanos defeat Captain Marvel? Using the Infinity Gauntlet of course! Let us be honest – any fight between a guy, no matter how powerful, with a guy wearing the Infinity Gauntlet, is just too one-sided.
There is no way Captain Marvel can deal with a guy who can literally wish his or her enemy away! Even without the Gauntlet, Thanos has been known to possess incredible comic energy manipulation powers. Sorry to break it to you but in a no holds barred fight, the Mad Titan will make Captain Marvel cry like a baby.
The ruler of multiple universes, Dormammu has managed to conquer a primal force of nature – magic! He is literally made of magic. The guy has countless ways to kill his enemies. Dormammu can also grant a portion of his powers to his followers, granting them godlike powers. You would not want to go toe to toe against this guy. The only reason Doctor Strange won that fight in the 2016 movie was that Doctor Strange had the Time Stone. Captain Marvel may be strong, but against Dormammu, she is still a weakling and always will be.
6. Adam Warlock
In the comic books, Warlock is someone who could give even Cosmic Gods a run for their money! Adam Warlock is the epitome of cosmic god-hood. But his real asset when it comes to battling Captain Marvel is his ability to regenerate from almost anything that Captain Marvel throws at him. Moreover, Adam Warlock also has the power to retreat into a near impenetrable cocoon when hurt too much. This means that Captain Marvel may keep coming at him but Adam Warlock can take whatever she has to trade her fists for. Maybe this is why Adam Warlock is still not a part of the MCU officially. The creators think that the guy is so overpowered that he will end the fight in seconds.
Since the Marvel Cinematic Universe is slowly moving to space, we could see Galactus take the stage after Thanos makes his exit after Avengers: Endgame. As the Destroyer of Worlds, Galactus belongs to a universe that predated the current one. After absorbing the leftover energies from the Big Bang, Galactus became what he is today and started feeding on planets. What makes Galactus truly deadly is his thirst for food. He can go past heavyweights like Odin and Thor like they were paper twigs when he is hungry. Galactus has been known to be defeated several times in the comic books but it always takes a lot of effort, efforts that would be too much for Captain Marvel to partake in.
Eternity is the being that has come into existence after the Universe came to be. As the name suggests, Eternity is omniscient, omnipresent and all-knowing. Eternity and her sister Infinity can bend the fabric of reality and time and space are like play dough to them, forever bent to their will. Eternity, fortunately, does not like meddling in the affairs of lesser life-forms. But she is known to be an interesting character. With Ego and Dormammu already there in the MCU, Eternity could be the next in line to be featured in a movie.
3. The Living Tribunal
If you think it is only Thanos who is concerned with protecting the balance of the universe, we give you The Living Tribunal. The Cosmic god is the first of his kind and has only one authority above him that he answers to for his actions – the One Above All. The Living Tribunal only cares about providing balance to the universe.
He will tip the scales of either the bad guys or the good guys when the evil-good balance goes off track. Luckily, Captain Marvel is too insignificant of a character to draw the ire of the Living Tribunal. Thanos though….well it’s a different story altogether.
2. The One Above All
The guy who is the closest equivalent to God in the Marvel Universe, the One Above All is the one that even the Living tribunal is scared off and is subordinate to. The one Above All has many names and forms. He is termed to be the origin of all life and energy in the universe. One snap and he could undo all the things Thanos did in Infinity War. But he has always stayed mum when it comes to meddling in human affairs, just like Eternity.
1. The Beyonder
Who is even stronger than God in the Marvel Universe? The answer is – the Beyonder. You see, God was the first guy to ever exist, no doubt about that, but he was still of this Universe. The Beyonder hails from a world that lies beyond this universe. For the Beyonder, the universe is literally a petri dish and he is the doctor looking at it through a microscope.
He can do whatever the hell he wants. When the character was launched in 1984 in an obscure comic book arc, no one would have thought that the Beyonder could be seen as a good and recurring villain for Marvel. But he did. The Beyonder has appeared in several critically acclaimed storylines but his powers are now somewhat dulled down so as to make the storylines more realistic.
The last Avengers movie to be released under the MCU banner was Avengers: Infinity War. The official film synopsis for the movie reads:
Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk and the rest of the Avengers unite to battle their most powerful enemy yet — the evil Thanos. On a mission to collect all six Infinity Stones, Thanos plans to use the artefacts to inflict his twisted will on reality. The fate of the planet and existence itself has never been more uncertain as everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment.
Do I really look like a guy with a plan? You know what I am? I’m a dog chasing cars. I wouldn’t know what to do with one if I caught it! You know, I just… do things
