Avengers: Infinity War is out and the fans are raving about the movie like nothing else matters in this world. This movie took 10 years of build-up and finally hit the big screens, it was totally worth the wait! Every aspect that was put into this movie was a big surprise, the movie was full of twists and turns at every corner and can be termed as the ultimate fan-pleasing comic-book thriller. The biggest shock that the viewers got was towards the end of the movie.
The movie has broken so many box office records, firstly it opened to a massive opening weekend and earned around $640 million worldwide and then it zoomed past $1 Billion mark in record time i.e 11 days which is the fastest ever by any movie in the history of cinema. Some box office pundits are saying that it is poised to breach $2 Billion barrier and may end up highest grossing film of all time.
The audience continues to line up outside theatres to catch a glimpse of their favorite superheroes, but the character that took our breath away was Thanos. He scared the hell out of everyone right from the beginning when he mercilessly killed Heimdall and Loki, and traumatized Hulk with royal beating that he would remember forever. He was the most terrifying villain that Avengers had ever faced. He is surely the best MCU villain ever.
The reason why Thanos was uniquely dangerous was not because he is the powerful Mad Titan who is capable of wreaking terrible havoc, instead he was an evil genius who knew what he was doing and why he was doing. His purpose was to bring balance to the universe through extermination of half the life in the galaxy. With the Infinity gauntlet embedded with six Infinity stones, he can do that at the snap of his fingers. And he did.
The most epic moments that came in the movie were every time the heroes teamed up and fought together against whatever Thanos had to throw at them. Also, whatever Thanos did was really breathtaking. But there was one thing that did not exactly go as the fans thought that it might have. That little thing was none other than the reunion of Steve and Bucky.
As we all know, at the end of Civil War, Cap brought a tormented and broken Bucky to Wakanda to be fixed and whatever Hydra put into his head through torture to be flushed out so that he is not a danger to the society anymore.
In Captain America: Civil War, Baron Zemo brainwashed Bucky and turned him into his personal monkey. He ordered him to carry out attack on the UN Building which had representatives from all over the world including T’Challa’s dad King T’Chaka. But he lost his life in a massive explosion which made Black Panther join Team Iron man to hunt down Bucky. But he came to know of the situation, T’Challa offered his hand to help and put Bucky under the Supervision of his sister Shuri.
From there on, Cap united with Falcon and Widow and the three of them were on secret missions helping around the countries of the world (mostly in middle-east). Bucky woke up from his Cryo Sleep at the end of Black Panther and he had been resting until Infinity War, under the Supervision of Shuri.
In Infinity War we saw Cap and Bucky reunite hugging it out casually. Black Panther and Civil War were almost 2 years apart, and Cap and Bucky’s reunion was just a casual hug. Since the movie was short on time to address this, it would obviously have not taken much time as a bigger threat looms over the head of the planet.
But this was surely not like the reunion of two people who are meeting for the first time in 2 years. Director Joe Russo himself has addressed to this fact that this was not the first time Cap and Bucky united in the last two years. They would have obviously met after Bucky woke up from his Cryo sleep. Here’s what Joe Russo and Sebastian Stan had to say about this:
“Joe Russo – I don’t believe that’s the first time they’ve seen each other since.
Sebastian Stan – You have two and a half hours. That hug would be like half the film. You need to get moving.
Joe Russo – I think we make these choices based on the story real estate that we have. An appropriate amount of time had passed for Bucky to be healed since CivilWar. Share, as we know, is a genius, perhaps the smartest person in the world, and she found a way to repair Bucky when nobody else could for many years. I think for us, clearly, Steve had been on the run since CivilWar has been keeping in close contact with Shuri and T’Challa. Obviously he’s been hiding somewhere; I think he’s made his way through Wakanda a couple of times, and that’s how we directed that scene. it was not the first time that they were seeing each other since he woke up.”
We love this brotherhood that Steve and Bucky share, as they are totally inseparable. No matter what life threw at them, they were there for each other. It inspires people to have friendships like this. The bond of Steve and Bucky cannot be broken and the same goes for friends throughout the world. They should stand for each other, support each other and be with each other, till the end of the line.
