DCEU Update – Flash Actor Ezra Miller Reveals DC Is Working On A Speedster Multiverse

With the surge in DCEU’s ratings after Aquaman became one of the highest grossing movies of the superhero genre, things are actually looking up for the DC Extended universe and its parent company – Warner Bros. There were a lot of projects that had been mothballed after Joss Whedon screwed up Justice League and left the DCEU hanging by a wire at the Global Box Office. Now with Aquaman’s success, a lot of experimental projects are being breathed in a new breath of life. A Birds of Prey movie and a Joker movie are only the beginning. A new project has come to light from under the DCEU banners that have the potential to topple the box office beasts of the superhero genre. And all thanks to Ezra Miller aka Flash, we have official confirmation regarding the same.

The Flash movie is one of the movies that was, up until recently, been cursed to stay within developmental hell. DCEU has decided to drag it out of the depths of the abyss and start from scratch. The rumored Flashpoint movie may not be happening but the Flash is sure as hell going to get his own solo feature film under Warner Bros Studios. But there have been a lot of delays in that specific project and the fans were eager to know what was making the movie’s production projects to run under such huge delays. To that Ezra Miller gave a very interesting answer. He said and we quote:

“We’re talking about sparking a whole new universe,” Miller said. “It’s not just the DC Multiverse. It’s the Speedster Multiverse.”

His words specifically were – “A speedster multiverse”.

The official twitter post confirming the news is posted below:

“The Speedsters are the ones who connect the disparate pieces,” Ezra Miller continues. “Marvel is the universe; it’s one world with all of the same characters. DC is a multiverse. All these stories with different realities, different versions of characters, and the speedsters are the ones who move through it all. They’re like the connecting bridge between all these collaged parts.”

Ezra Miller Flashpoint Movie

This could mean one of two things for the scarlet speedster. It is either that Ezra Miller will be racing through the multiverse and interacting with several well-known elements within the DC Multiverse. Or that the Flashpoint storyline, the acclaimed DC Comic book arc that was supposed to be the basis for the new Flash movie, could be a possibility. But the former is more of a plausible one than the latter, the chances of which look extremely bleak.

The Flashpoint movie would not only mean that several other speedsters like Professor Zoom or the Reverse Flash could feature in the movie but also mean that the several alternate reality iterations of our favorite DC Superheroes like Wonder Woman, Cyborg, Aquaman, and Superman will also be making appearances in the movie. Provided the fact that Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill are no longer within the DCEU, roping in new faces to play the iconic duo will be bit of a stretch and a challenge for the DCEU.

Batman vs Superman Fight Sequences

The Flash first appeared in Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice. The official film synopsis for the movie reads:

It’s been nearly two years since Superman’s (Henry Cavill) colossal battle with Zod (Michael Shannon) devastated the city of Metropolis. The loss of life and collateral damage left many feeling angry and helpless, including crime-fighting billionaire Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck). Convinced that Superman is now a threat to humanity, Batman embarks on a personal vendetta to end his reign on Earth, while the conniving Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) launches his own crusade against the Man of Steel.

Aquaman Bumblebee

The Flash’s latest appearance was in Justice League. The official film synopsis for the movie reads:

Fuelled by his restored faith in humanity, and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists newfound ally Diana Prince to face an even greater threat. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to recruit a team to stand against this newly-awakened enemy. Despite the formation of an unprecedented league of heroes in Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and the Flash, it may be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
