Ryan Reynolds has finally confirmed that Deadpool 3 is in works and it has served as a relief to the ardent Deadpool fans. There were huge question marks around this movie because we all know that the deal between Disney and Fox is about to cross the finishing line and the future of this franchise was at stake but this confirmation by Reynolds is music to ears of the fans.
Ryan Reynolds is in China right now in order to promote his movie ‘Once Upon A Deadpool’ which is a PG-13 cut of Deadpool 2. His comments in regards to the future of Deadpool franchise and Deadpool 3 are quite interesting as he, in an interview with Variety, stated,
“His (Ryan Reyolds) team was already at work on ‘Deadpool 3,’ he added… He did say, however, that in the third installment, they were ‘looking to go in a completely different direction,’ saying that ‘often, they reboot or change a character maybe like four movies too late.'”
Well, we also heard a lot of rumors that the movie is going to be X-Force movie and not a lot of focus is going to be on Deadpool as they’re going to be a lot of other superheroes in the movie. On this, Ryan Reynolds also expressed his views and said,
“I feel like the character, in order for him to function properly within his own universe, you need to take everything away from him. I don’t think that you can keep doing that. I do see him as being a part of X-Force, obviously. I would love to see him in a team-up sort of thing, like a mano-a-mano or a great female character from the X-Men universe. I just think if you’re going to do another Deadpool solo film, you’ve got to really, like, get that budget down to nothing and just swing for the fences, and break all kinds of weird barriers, and do stuff that no one else can do.”
Hints have come from Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, writers of the two Deadpool movies that there are very strong chances that the next movie in the franchise will be the X-Force movie, even before Deadpool 3. Reese, during an interview with Screen Rant, had said,
“According to the chronology that we’ve established, X-Force will be next, before Deadpool,” Reese explained to Screen Rant. “It’s a bit of the ‘Iron Man 1, Iron Man 2, The Avengers, Iron Man 3’ model, in that sense. X-Force isn’t being written by us. It’s being written and directed by Drew Goddard, or at least that’s the plan right now. We’re not involved with that one. We do anticipate there will be a Deadpool 3 at some point, but it’s just a little premature because it will definitely take a backseat to X-Force for the time being.”
A lot of fans would love that as they want characters like Cable and Zazie Beets Domino to have major roles because all the fans of Fox and X-Force want Fox to bring these movies before the authority of X-Men universe goes into the hands of Disney. The reason behind this can be that having X-Force and X-Men: Dark Phoenix may signal towards a great end to these characters by Fox itself, after all these years.
Deadpool 2 earned a whopping sum of $734 million across the globe, the first movie back in 2016 earned a sum of $783 million. The future of the franchise isn’t clear yet because of the pending Disney-Fox deal which will see Fox’s Marvel characters shifting over to Marvel Studios under the guidance of studio head Kevin Feige. But, for now, nothing official has been declared.
The movie Dark Phoenix is scheduled to release on June 7th, 2019 followed by the release of ‘The New Mutants’ on August 2nd. So, are you excited for the movies? Tell us in the comments section down below.
