Tollywood Movies Nominated For Oscars:
Each year, the first month of January experiences the exhilaration of the Academy Awards with a first announcement of the nominations. The academy awards held annually in March resonates the feverish pitch at which the cinematic world is being bombarded with films. Movie lovers claim that the Oscars are the biggest measure to gauge the quality of the movie. Turpitude of the golden statuette stands unchallenged.
The Oscars see nominations from the film industry the world over. The crème de la crème of the movies get a chance to be nominated and show that they are the best and nothing less. Every year The Film Federation of India (FFI) appoints a committee to choose one film among those released that year to be submitted as India’s official entry to the Academy for a nomination for “Best Foreign Language Film” the following year. The chosen films, along with their English subtitles, are sent to the Academy, where they are screened for the jury. Many regional films have got the chance to go as the official entry for Oscars.
1. Swathi Muthyam
The Tollywood movie ‘Swathi Muthyam” starring Kamal Hasan has been nominated for the Oscars in
Eega was also nominated for best foreign language film. The movie has been directed by SS Rajmouli and stars Nani, Samantha, and Sudeep in the lead roles.
Mahanati was another movie in contention for nominations for Oscars. A biopic on the yesteryear cine legend Savitri, directed by Nag Ashwin. The movie sees a stellar performance by Keerthy Suresh, Dulquer Salmaan, Samantha Akkineni, and Vijay Devarakonda.
Directed by Sukumar, Rangasthalam is about a hearing impaired villager who rises against a village head and becomes a messiah for the people. The movie stars Ram Charan and Samantha Akkineni.
Though these movies were shortlisted but couldn’t make it the final nominations for Oscars. Hoping a more fruitful year to Tollywood with better films.
