Today, we are talking about movies we thought will bomb but rocked in 2018 and you’ll feel really bad about your predictions as there are some big names also in the list for which a lot of claims had been made by the people. There are a lot of people out there who really like to say bad things about a movie as it gives them more attention than the ones who are non-biased about a movie and today we are talking about the movie which has been quoted as ‘Bombed’ but turned out to be a successful one.
So, without wasting any more time, we should straight jump into the list of all those movies about whom people thought all the bad things as before the end of the year, it’s time for you to correct your predictions and get a lesson for next year as there are a lot of movies coming in 2019.
10. Red Sparrow:
This spy-thriller movie featuring Jennifer Lawrence got a lot of mixed reviews from the critics and there were a lot of talks about the failure of this movie at the box-office but it has been stated that movie was not a flop or hit as it was a moderate success.
The estimated collection for its opening weekend by the critics was close to $20-24 million but the movie collected a sum of $17 million. The movie performed exceptionally well in Europe and Australia. Well, the budget of the movie was close to $69 million and could have been made in $4-5 million less.
Yes, Jennifer Lawrence is the one whose salary of $15-20 million was the reason for this big budget and we really hoped that the actress should have taken a sum of nearly $8-10 million paydays as it would’ve changed the entire narrative of this movie at the box office but still was a success.

9. Slender Man:
Well, we all know that ‘Horror Movies’ never bomb at the box-office but this movie would’ve been even a big success at the box-office if this movie would’ve made its way into the theaters 5 years ago as the movie is perfectly built for people of all ages.
Well, there’s a controversy around the movie. An original Slender Man’s stabbing scene is the reason for a lot of re-shoots and re-edits which increased the budget of the movie by $19 million. But, not getting a lot of attention the movie slowly cruised towards the 2.5x of its cost.

8. 12 Strong:
Well, there will be people who have already forgotten about this war action film but no one can forget the fact that the movie is one of the most watchable movies of 2018 and also the reviews weren’t too bad. But, we have to say that the risk taken by Warner Bros has gone past the lake of box-office bombs and they should thank god for this because it was quite a remarkable success.

7. Tomb Raider:
Well, taking the biggest and the only case for this movie which is enough to say that movie touched the expectations of viewers as the movie had a 2.8x of its price tag. The movie is based on a video game and we have to say that the sequel of the movie is on the track.
Well, we have to say that the way Warner Bros treated the character of Lara Croft isn’t quite impressive as there are reports that there are plans of having Alicia Vikander out of the sequel of the movie because this is what wrong Warner Bros. thinks is in the movie.
Budget: $98 million
Box Office: $274.7 million
6. Tag:
Well, we have to say that the year 2018 turned out to be a really successful year for studio comedies as it has been led by Blockers and Game Night. But, this ‘Tag’ is going to be the next Hangover series in the market and the big loss was releasing this movie with Incredibles 2.
But, despite not having a lot of attention from the viewers as the market was quite busy with Incredibles 2 but the movie went on to be a great success despite the fact that the sequel of the movie isn’t going to be the thing in the mind of makers right now.

Box Office: $77.9 million
5. Skyscraper:
There will be a lot of people out there who said that the Die-Hard version of Dwayne Johnson was a failure but the movie went on to bring a different kind of story out in front of the people. As the movie had a 2.43x of its budget which is quite impressive.
The movie has collected a sum of $98.4 million in China with not so convincing stats in the domestic market as it seems like the U.S. is quite tired of movies having Dwayne Johnson in the center saving the world. But, it seems like the rest of the world wants more of Dwayne Johnson.

Box Office: $304.1 million
4. Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween:
Well, the predecessor of this movie went on to collect a sum of $150.2 million on the other side of which we had this movie who went on to collect only the 60% of its predecessor. But, this movie proved out to be more profitable than the previous one as it had a 2.62x of its budget.
The reason in the downfall of the budget to this extent was the relegation of Jack Black’s cameo and also the diminished CGI in the final hour of this movie is the reason why the multiplier of this one got bigger than the multiplier of Goosebumps movie.

Box Office: $92 million
3. Upgrade:
Well, it has been clearly stated by the director of this sci-fi horror film, Leigh Whannell that the movie hasn’t been a success at the box-office but is far ahead from the mark of a box-office failure and we have to say that we can’t disagree with him because the movie had a multiplier of 4.1x.
But, even this multiplier is sort of a sadness for Blumhouse as we all know that they are the masters of low-budget successful movies as the movies which have made their way in recent years are quite brilliant as movies like Truth or Dare (27x), Insidious: The Last Key (16.7x), and many more.

Box Office: 16.4 million
2. Unfriended: Dark Web:
The reason why people call it a flop is a reason that people started comparing it to its predecessor because this movie ended up collecting less than 20% of its predecessor but the movie was priced only $1 million and had an 11x multiplier is the reason why the movie was a success.
Also, the movie wasn’t released in half of the cinemas at domestic level and also wasn’t the movies which Blumhouse brought all with all the marketing and advertising stuff. So, for me, I think the movie was a great success because having an 11x multiplier cannot be a bad thing.

Box Office: $11.2 million
1. Ocean’s 8:
The movie as we all know was a spin-off of the movie series Ocean’s Trilogy and came out to be a huge success despite getting some critical reviews from the critics around the world. The movie went on to earn a sum of $297 million as the movie got a multiplier of 4x.
The movie didn’t get a lot of gigantic success as most of the people though but the movie clearly paid-off the time and money put in the movie as the movie went on to earn a good sum of money in comparison of its budget and also the awards it took.

Box Office: $297.7 million
