Sony Announces 2 New Marvel Movie Release Dates For…

Sony’s Universe of Marvel Characters has kicked off with a bang as venom has shown insane amounts of profits and now Sony can pour more money into their characters falling under the Marvel brand.

Tom Hardy did a great job as Venom, and for many fans, this film has been a guilty pleasure. Critics hated the film and people loved it which has resulted in insane amounts of money at the Box Office and seeing this major success, Sony has announced 2 new release dates for SUMC movies.

Marvel Sony

Venom currently stands somewhere around $785 Million+ worldwide, and it had a production budget of just $100 Million. So you see how happy Sony would be with these returns. The film is currently the 6th highest grossing movie of the year having left all of Fox’s Marvel movie behind.

Marvel Sony

It has beaten 11 MCU movies till now and it seems that with the pace this film is moving forward in China, we will see it cross at least $850 Million by the end of its Box Office run.

Marvel Sony

While we know that Morbius was confirmed to be the next film under development and Jared Leto is already on board with the production to begin sometime next month. Other than that, Tom Hardy as we know has signed on for a 3 picture deal, so it is obvious that he is going to be in sequels.

Marvel Sony

Considering how much money Venom has made, it is a no-brainer that Sony would like to put more of Venom out there. So, a sequel had to be fast-tracked without a doubt.

Marvel Sony

Now a very happy Sony has announced 2 new release dates for their next Marvel projects and they are:

  • July 10, 2020
  • October 2, 2020

Marvel Sony

Coming from the reporter of Variety Justin Kroll, he tweets that the first one of these is going to be a non-sequel while the second one will indeed be a sequel. So he is guessing the very obvious claiming that the two films in motion are Morbius and Venom respectively.

Marvel Sony

Oh, Thank You, Justin. You have been such a great help! We would not have been able to figure it out without you telling us! The two release dates themselves reveal the films that are supposed to come out. July 10, 2020, will be Morbius because that’s the film Sony is putting under production next, and then Venom would return to its original release window on October 2, 2020.

Marvel Sony

Venom came out on October 5 this year and it will make a lot of sense that Sony would want to stick with the similar release window as they’ve shattered records with this film. Considering two movies of Sony’s Universe of Marvel Characters, 2 films of the Worlds of DC, 1 Valiant Comics Live Action project, so far 2 MCU films & a potential Spawn movie, we have a total of 8 Superhero movies coming out in 2020.

Marvel Sony

We still do not know the status of Fox’s Marvel movies which are scheduled for 2020, but that will be confirmed by 2019 when Disney totally acquires Fox.

Marvel Sony

So, 2020 is going to be big on the part of comic book movies with at least 8 films coming out apart from the unconfirmed ones. Disney will surely put in at least one more film in their quota of bringing out 3 movies per year, and we can’t be sure how movies like X Force which are supposed to go under production next year will work out under Disney. Keep your fingers crossed.

Marvel Sony

What’s good is that Sony has their shit sorted out! They are putting out some great movies in 2019, and 2020 is supposedly going to be their biggest year in the comic book movie department. Vin Diesel’s Bloodshot will hit the theatres in February which will be followed by Morbius & Venom 2 in July & October respectively.

Marvel Sony

Who knows if Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse does well then we might get a sequel announced for December 2020. That will bring their total up to 4 comic book movies within a year and with this they will actually go past Disney with the number of comic book movies coming out in just one year!

Sony has done some remarkable work in the past year or so, and for the first time in my life, I am not ashamed to say this: All Hail Sony.
