We all know there are a lot of mixed reviews on the internet about the movie and fans are going into theatres in order to watch Fantastic Beasts 2 and there are many things about which people are talking on the internet and one of them is the cameo of Professor Minerva McGonagall who has reminded us of the Harry Potter series.
But, after the release of the movie, it seems like they shouldn’t have included the cameo of McGonagall in the movie because of one simple reason that the cameo and backstory of the character has diminishes some of the histories of this character which we know is huge and interesting.
But, the inclusion of her by the hands of J.K. Rowling in this movie and a lot of things about the character hasn’t been introduced and because of which fans are disappointed.
There were a lot of acquisitions and predictions that the move J.K. Rowling has done with the entry of characters like McGonagall into the Fantastic Beasts movie is simply done with the idea of having much greater hype and also using the popularity of the success of Harry Potter series. We have seen a lot of things which doesn’t need to be there in the movie and are in there only with the purpose of having some buzz and linking lines between Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts series.
Also, in the first trailer of the movie we saw that one of the most historic and popular rules of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is that it’s not possible to teleport onto the grounds of Hogwarts. That’s the reason why there are a lot of fans who are angry with this idea of the makers of the movie. There is also a lot of uproar by the fans because they have eliminated a lot of depth of one of the big characters like McGonagall of Harry Potter series, which fans have cherished in all those happy years.
But, in order to do this, they’ve sacrificed some major and important backstory of the character McGonagall. The series creator J.K. Rowling has stated on the website about something of the character of McGonagall that, the character was born back in 1935. The father of McGonagall was a Muggle Presbyterian Minister and on the other side, her mother was a witch.
This is the reason why McGonagall is one of the most interesting characters of the Harry Potter series. We have to admire the father of McGonagall who didn’t leave her mother after knowing the fact that her wife and daughter are witches. But, he didn’t leave them and had even two more children with her beloved wife but the price was quite high as they were living in deep from all other and that had a great impact on the wife, Isobel.
Now, if we talk about the life of McGonagall then she was a very brilliant and an exact copy of Hermione Granger but we have to see was more impressive than her also as she was one of the students of Dumbledores, after being one of the best students of magic she got a job in the Ministry of Magic and also had a great life in there. That was the place and time when she fell in love with a muggle form her village. They both spent the whole summer together and met a lot of times.
The meeting between the two just got a lot regular and it was that Muggle boy who later on became her husband as he proposed her. But, the fear in the heart of McGonagall of becoming the exact copy of her mother was very huge because she has seen her mother lying in a sick mental state in later in her life because she chooses love over magic and couldn’t be able to bear the life of a muggle despite being a witch. Thus, she rejected the proposal and left all the things behind her and moved to the Ministry of Magic in order to never look back into this life.
With all the experiences she had in her life, whether it’s about the lessons or fears she got from her mother or the sacrifices she did in order to fulfill her dreams simply made her a lonely but brilliant teacher in her work. She is one of the pillars of Hogwarts and was also one of the most trusted people of Dumbledore. Also, the affection she has had for Harry Potter was reasonable because she has also lived the life of a muggle and has seen bad things happening to her loved ones.
Now, if we talk about the need for her introduction in the movie is the reason that the movie, The Crimes of Grindelwald took place back in 1927, which places the movie to be just one year after the happenings of the first film but it places the movie eight years ahead of the birth of McGonagall. But, seeing her in the movie in her fully-grown and young role it seems like they aren’t worried about eliminating all the backstory of this character.
But, it’s really sad to see that the makers of the film aren’t focusing on the emotional aspect of the castings and also the cameo as a lot of things has been changed after the introduction of McGonagall in the movie and with a lot of fans want to see the backstory and the life of a great character seems to be like a spoiled dream now as a lot of things has been changed already.
