For the last decade or so, the Infinity Stones have been a major part of the MCU, and the entire story of the biggest brand in Hollywood has been circling around these 6 McGuffins. After 18 whole movies giving us the history and debuts of these Infinity Stones individually, Avengers: Infinity War was the first time that they all came together. Each Infinity Stone has immense and unlimited power and Thanos actually managed to wield all 6 of them.
These six singularities ended up surviving the Big Bang and most of them have been pretty involved with Earth. Sour little green planet is actually one of the most, if not the most important planet in the entire Multiverse. Sure the MCU is growing its cosmic side now, but Earth has always been a major hub for all the big events.
Now all the Infinity Stones have been to Earth once, but throughout the MCU timeline, at least 4 of these Infinity Stones have been responsible for some events on Earth twice. Here, have a look at the timeline of the Infinity Stones popping up all around the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The Soul Stone has always been a major mystery and only in Infinity War did we find out that it was on Vormir. Also, we found out the way to retrieve the stone, which took a massive toll on its bearer. It hasn’t really been used until now. It traveled from Vormir to Titan and Thanos only used it once against Doctor Strange.
There was another usage planned for it but did not happen in the final cut. Then it showed up on Earth and was used collectively along with the others against Thor and the Universe (The Snap).
The Power Stone has a similar story as it was involved in the events that took place on Xandar. Thanos retrieved the stone from the Nova Corps, decimated Xandar, attacked Thor for the Tesseract and destroyed his ship. Then he took the stone to Titan, used it several times in battle before finally taking it to Wakanda and using it in the final moments of the film.
The Reality Stone was retrieved from an unknown location and the Jane brought it to Earth along with her. It then travelled to Asgard with her. Malekith became successful to retrieve the stone and then he brought it to Earth for the convergence. Finally, the stone went to Knowhere from where Thanos took it to Titan and Wakanda. So if you think about it, this is the stone that has travelled back and forth quite a lot, but it always finds its way to Earth.
The Space Stone popped up on Earth as that was where Odin hid it (or was this a theory?). Schmidt got his hands upon it. Then it stayed on Earth for quite a long time. SHIELD built weapons out of it. Then it led an alien army to Earth and also opened the gateway for the Mind Stone to come in. Thor then took it to Asgard. Loki took it along upon Thor’s ship. Then this stone became the medium for Thanos to travel anywhere he wanted to.
The Time Stone similarly has spent its entire time upon Earth. Doctor Strange took it to the Dark Dimension to beat Dormammu. Then it travelled to Titan. From there on, Thanos brought it back to Wakanda and we know the rest.
The Mind Stone if you think about it has been the true villain for the Avengers. It has been majorly involved in all three Avengers films. Erik Selvig going crazy, Ultron, Vision, Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver and then the finale of Infinity War, it was all mind stone. While Soul Stone is considered to have a special importance in the MCU, it is the mind stone that has really caused all the trouble.
So in the family of 6, the Mind Stone could be called as the evil one (it probably is evil!). Avengers 4 is going to shine more light upon these stones. Most of all, it has to tell us the real importance of the soul stone. So we can look forward to all these stones playing a major role in Avengers 4 when it comes out on April 26, 2019.
