‘Aquaman’ Reportedly Heading Towards $100 Million-Plus Opening Weekend

When it was stated some years ago that Aquaman is going to come right at the end of 2018, I didn’t imagine or even predicted that this movie will be like the last big bomb of the year and will be in contention for being the movie of the year even before its release. Such is the hype of this movie and it has been reported that DC is really eyeing for an opening weekend of more than $100 million at the box-office.

Aquaman Reactions DCEU

The hype, popularity, and also the high tides which this movie is enjoying at the moment is signalling towards the rise of DC again as we all know that this movie is going to be followed up by some really good movies of DC and the next right after this one is Shazam!.

Shazam! seems to be very unlike DC as we all know that DC is associated with dark movies but at the same time, we all have to praise DC for the way they present their characters as depth is the thing which they always have in their characters.

So, a lot of excitement is in the hearts of fans but also a lot of weight on the shoulders of James Wan as he is the one who is going to be in the spotlight after the release of the movie and the date is coming closer and closer.

The fans and also some of the critics all over the world are signaling towards the rise of this movie as the next big thing of DC after ‘The Dark Knight’ and it is none other than, The Wrap, who has suggested on Tuesday that the upcoming movie could earn a whopping amount of $100 million-plus in the domestic market in the opening weekend.

Also, Aquaman can be the movie with the fourth biggest opening weekend under the name of DCEU and will beat movies like Justice League which stopped at $93 million. But, there are chances that the movie is going to beat the records of movies like Wonder Woman, which earned had a tremendous sum of $103 million and also Man of Steel’s sum of $116 million.

But, we simply can’t think of Aquaman beating the movie Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which sits on the top with an amount of $166 million.

Aquaman Avengers: Infinity War MCU

No matter how much this movie will collect in the opening weekend there are chances that we are going to have a blast when this movie will come in theatres. Also, if we talk about the views of James Wan, who is the director of the movie on the style he preferred while directing this movie and also the kind of things he noticed while being on the sets of this movie and he has stated,

“It was very important for me early on to be allowed to make my own film and to have my own voice be in there,” Wan said. “After Furious 7 and Conjuring 2, I didn’t want to be a director for hire. After Furious 7, that’s kind of who I was to some degree, but after that, I don’t want to be that guy again. So, it was very important for me to be able to bring my own stamp, my own visual aesthetic, create the characters. Even though Jason has somewhat been established Justice League, I wanted to bring his character into this, basically, fresh in a lot of ways.

“So it was important for me to obviously pay a respect to where he was left off in [Justice League], but then allow me the freedom to take him to where I want to take him at the end of the movie. My hero goes on this hero’s journey to become someone very different than where he started. That was something that was very important for me. But the movie I want to make, that I was allowed that freedom to do that.”

The movie ‘Aquaman’ is going to be released on December 21, 2018.
